Are BG leaderboards pointless?

Is it just me or are battlegrounds leaderboards really just another emperor-like grindfest? Whoever spends most time playing it, ends first, doesn't matter how well he performs.

Any chance that BG leaderboards will be retweaked? (After fixing all the grouping stuff)
Don't know about others but I really miss any truly competitive game mode.

It does seem quite pointless, a lot of it is about how many hours a day you spend in there. And then there's also the imbalance when it comes to builds, too.

Its all about the time you spend, especially when you are looking to get rewards from all 3 leaderboards.

This really makes me sad :-( BGs can't be considered a competitive game mode then. I guess we must wait another 2 or 3 years until they try to bring something again.

BG Leaderboards and matchmaking system is a joke.

To be honestly honest to you. As long as the hardcore premate groups can queue against random lowlevels there will be no improvement to the leaderboard.

Its a really said story, that you can't pick your mode you wanna play and of course the one with a job can't get rank #1.

As cool as some gamemodes look like they didn't designed it proberly because they might have no time (same for shaegorath island) .

The entire Morrowind expansion looks to me like they put effort and time into it but at some point they had hurry and complet it as soon as possible. ( vulcano not visitable, small map, less houses and even these are mostly locked)

What then is your suggestion for a "competitive leaderboard?" The system as it is right now is the best system we've got. Unless, of course you can come up with something else.

Not sure how it is now since I'm on console but I would think that kill to death ratio and plus minus would be good starting points.

How about just making BG leaderboards exactly the same as trial leaderboards. Only the best score you got is counted. This way, theoretically, you can end at the top of the leaderboard with just one run, provided you performed really well.

As it is now, it doesn't really matter how well you perform. Only what matters is if you are willing to abandon your job, family and other activities to be at the top of this leaderboard. The game is full of unwanted grind already, but that's ok, it keeps players playing. But none of the current BG leaderboards or the Emperor leaderboard achieve that goal.

As it stands now, it's demotivating for the vast majority of the playerbase, including hardcore pvp folks.
