Sentry set, counter intuitive?

Short Version at bottom

Hello i'd like to discuss something that i found very odd with this set. So this set is basically the Nightblade hunter set for pvp. Back in update 1.6 when Radiant Mage Light was a toggle.. this set was marvellous. It increased Radiant Mage Lights detection radius by 50%! Just want to point out when radiant mage light was a toggle it was active at all times (when you double bar'd the toggle) and did not reveal cloaked or stealthed players. That meant if any Nightblade Cloaking or in stealth walked within say 12 meters of me i could see them. The best part of it all was the players i was detecting had no idea i could see them. This gave me the awesome ability to ambush them from stealth from stealth! The set basically worked like it says, a "Sentry". Someone who would find enemy players that are hidden or invisible. I remember so many players sending me hate mail thinking i was using detection potions 24/7. It was a niche way to play the game at the time because you sacrificed a whole 5 piece set making you unless against anyone not hidden... just to kill other stealthed players. Soon after some nightblades caught on and copied my build. It added an entire new stealth element to the game that is no longer possible and ill explain why.

So first radiant mage light no longer reveals enemy players without them knowing about it and is no longer a toggle. My build completely ruined because of the change and i was pretty sad. The stealth vs stealth aspect of the game gone (without detect potions).

Now here is where this set has me confused and in general how detection works has me confused as well. So with this set you are given 50% more detection radius. This means that you should theoretically be still able to detect hidden players (not cloaked like i did with radiant mage light back in the day) with out them knowing about it..... expect there is one problem. As soon as i see a hidden player in stealth, the player ive detected is notified they have been detected.

Now if i see someone first because i have a larger detection radius, should this hidden player be notified that i can see them? It kind of seems counter intuitive that i cant get the upper hand on my opponents with the 5 piece bonus of this set because of this happening.

This is where i'd like your opinion because there is already a mechanic in game that allows me to see enemy players without them knowing i can see them.... and that is detection potions. Should this Sentry Set notify enemy players that i can see them? A detection potion doesn't do this. Should a detection potion notify you that you've been detected?

I personally think that the Sentry set should not let enemy players know you can see them. This add's a niche game-play element to pvp where players can sacrifice a 5 piece set to basically fill a role to counter another, just like Shield Breaker counters shield users for example but is useless against none shield users.

What do you think? @Wrobel

Short Version:

Once detecting enemy hidden players with this set they are notified they have been detected. Even though they can't see you when you can see them. I believe this should not happen. Detection potions do not work like this, why should this set be any different.

    So basically

Because of new mechanics surrounding how steath detection works, this set's 5 piece bonus has only half the usefulness?

Perhaps you can change things up by running Way of the Air set: http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Way+of+Air+Set

and just run around in stealth coming across enemies (I think they won't know if you do it that way)

I also don't think detect pots cause enemies to know that they have been seen, so I suggest running that too

Like you... I used that ganker-anti-ganker build :) but lost the fun with that change.

Its a niche build so i doubt they will change it with so many other issues pending... But lets have hope

@Gan Xing Way of the Air would have the same result. Regardless if you detect someone first while they are hidden, the hidden player is notified they have been detected. Also you cant roll dodge in stealth. I have a set in mind i plan on switching too instead of viper (tryna avoid the cheese) but it will require a grind. If your interested you could pm me.

Detect pots work but dont last long enough.
