Question(s) about the Warden

Heyho, waiting with some kind of patience until the download is finished, and I can dive into the Early Access, i have some questions about the new class.

I would like to play it as an Tank, viable for Trials and vTrials, but also Dungeons. I know he is supposed to be a good of tank, but in some cases also viable as an MT. Which race should i choose? I thought about Imperial. Is this okay?

Or is the Warden at all not viable for endgame PvE?

I hope you can help me, can't wait to play :S

You can go imperial but as for me i think nord will be better, somewhat less resourses pools but 6% dmg reduction.

I played a tank warden in vRoM HM last night, I struggled a lot with resources despite being an Argonian. We gave up on HM after a few tries. Those issues will be even bigger if you have no reliable resource restore racial passives. I'd recommend an Argonian for that resource return on every potion.

Perhaps I shouldn't start tankign vet HMs with RoM though, was probably a L2P issue!

Hmm. I thought Wardens have great class opportunities for sustain as tank. They have netch that can be morphed to stamina (and it would be good for stamina return while blocking), They have healing passive than returns lower resourse while healing (great to use with vines).

From my experience, unfortunately those passives are inferior to the DK passives, Battle Roar and that Earth passive.

If there is a fight where you can utilise your Shimmering shield you have far superior ult generation, but Major heroism is bugged atm and gets overridden by Minor Heroism from Heroic Slash.

On top of all that we have inferior chains. The frozen device skills are OK if you have to use them once or maybe twice in a fight but not good if you want to stack up a group of mobs quickly.

Obviously, there there is still no Warden Main tank Meta, it might be that with the right combination of skills, buffs, bugfixs and armor sets this will work just as well as a DK.

Okay, thank you for your answers. I thought a bit about it and now I have a decision. I think, since I don't really like Argonians I will try Nord, and in the case that I get problems, i still can still use the race change. Nord has more defense, and health isn't everything and sustain is a thing I can support a bit with CP. That you tanked vet and HM brings me hope (doesn't matter that you had trouble with it).


But one more question:

Which weapon for which bar, and which types of armor ( like one piece of that and xy pieces of heavy or so)

Aim for the high health pool, focus on magicka build.

I'm still theorycrafting my warden as well. He's an orc mainly because I don't have an orc yet. I'm having a lot of fun but worry about end-game as well. Currently rolling DPS...but...where the Warden may lack, weapon skills can boon. Like good old sword and board taunt.

But, I'm only lvl 15 Warden and I'm having enough of a headache deciding what I'm going to do with him. The meta will be released by the end of the month, I guarantee it.

I have a Warden, an Argonian (and the quest dialog is really different) and I am currently leveling him. But, I am really not sure what to do with him when I get him to Champ Rank. Healing is OK, DPS is kind of Meh but I am still unlocking skills on him. Not sure if he would make a good Tank or not.

Group Support, Healing, is really all I see myself doing with this character.

Warden seems best as the off tank for more healing(cheap ult) and that group ability where you give your group the resistance buff. Giving the group more recovery/health through passives is a good thing as well. Also for trash you have an AOE breach/fracture which is amazing..good utility; truly.
