I don't understand why so many people still playing and streaming mmorpg runescape with thousands of viewers even at off peak hours. Yet ESO only has 100 viewers for the top streamer at off peak hours.
I mean runescape looks so outdated and no graphics at all.
ESO looks amazing and is elder scrolls, yet it's running out of juice, people finished Morrowind in a week...
What it is that runescape has that ESO lacks? Please enlightens me. And for ZOS to learn.

I have little or no interest in watching someone playing ESO.

    It's boring to watch.

    A few reasons.

    1. Runescape has been around for ages.
    2. There are streamers out there that have communities so cancerous that it deters anyone new coming in

Runescape has been out since 01 I think. I myself only quit last August and I'm already contemplating returning to it because of my lack of enjoyment playing ESO.

Add onto that, Runescapes devs POLL most updates. If the community wants something they get it. If they don't? It doesn't come into the game. The runescape playerbase is mostly adults at this point. We all grew up playing runescape as a teen and it'll forever be my favourite game.

ESO's content is running out fast, even Morrowind have been completed in a week by someone on this forum. It need something that will hold the long time players, it's already ran out of juice long ago.

I completed Morrowind in about a day. Was lucky enough that my study schedule meant I had a half day on the patch release and a day off the following day :D

If I have any spare time, I'm playing. Why would I watch someone else play if I could be advancing my own characters? Maybe those Runescape watchers have nothing else better to do?

edit: why do you say ESO is dying? I see a lot of people all over the place even at off-peak hours.

The point is popular games gets streamed and watched. Like player unknown battlegrounds, it's massive. Mmo too.

Just a guess but ESO's launch was terrible, obviously it has gotten better but only us within the community know that..Also most players within the community are busy playing instead of watching..you know? I have countless friends who bought eso and just never understood or cared for it and dropped it within a week/month(point being that it's a huge MMO, the masses won't understand) It's not easy to get into, just my thoughts on that.

It's the new "it" thing so of course it is. Overwatch was streamed big time for a while after its launch too and then slowly settled down. ESO just isn't the type of game that is fast-paced enough to really get someone's attention

Oh, I've already completed most Morrowind achievements and have a Magden at 50. It wasn't that hard. And I am a long time player - heck this account was created in 2013 the day they announced the game to the public. I've been in both betas. So yeah, old time player and MMO gamer in general.

But again, the statement is subjective as is yours - just saying it is "dying" without proof, is not an indication that it is dying. Just because you have an opinion doesn't make it fact.

Never cared for graphics, only gameplay/community. Runescapes community is much more toxic than ESO's, and much more elitist yet still more fun to be apart of imo. Gameplay? Well runescape was always so simplistic but that was the beauty of it.

I left runescape thinking I'm too old for the game, time to move on yet I still haven't played a game more enjoyable than it.

They listen to their players, not only the "we hear what you are saying" type listening but the "hmmmm this might actually be a fun idea to implement" type of listening.

plus the game has been going a long time, more depth, more content, just not as pretty.

Hmm Comparing Streams from Runescape with ESO?

Only watchable stream ESO have are the pvpers that after 5 min of watching is nagging about inbalance, zergs, boring gameplay and then proceeds to try to smallscale pvp against large zergs, runs up the resource towers and rolls around for 5 min and then gets wrecked and keeps nagging about the above things...

Gee i wonder why no1 thinks that is interesting to watch.

And then you have the Runescape streamers that actually engages with the chat (might be to the slow gameplay) and not really whining about what content the game have but actually enjoys it.

Havnt watched a Runescape stream before this thread came up but there were a clear higher quality on the 2 runescape streams i watched contra the ESO ones ive seen.
And on the bigger picture more people have played Runescape then ESO so ofc there is a bigger interest in it then ESO.

    my 2 cents at least.

People who want to run through content will do that for any game, not just ESO.

I also wonder if the people who rush the content ever bother to read the in-game information. Judging by some of the questions I've seen, I'll go with "no". One of the reasons I haven't bothered much with the pledges and trials is because many times the group doesn't allow time to read/interact with the npcs, or explore. That, to me, isn't playing the game. Running out of content, or missing much of the content because they rush through everything to be the first or something? My game experience is much different than yours, then.

What do you consider "long time players"? Do I count, since I've been here since beta/early access? And I've been subbed the whole time. Total of 18 characters now, haven't filled up the second account roster yet. Bought Morrowind for both accounts. Haven't explored more than half of Vvardenfell yet....

I know that on my next character I'm likely going to stream everything in the game for archiving purposes, so when I encounter a bug that I want to report, I can just submit footage.

Zenimax had better find the extra information useful.

They both mmorpg, howcome after 16 years the players still not sick of it?
