Why some abilities like templar's jabs/sweep and radiant destruction while dot abilities appear with white color?

Color

White: Outgoing damage
Yellow: Outgoing critical damage
Orange: Outgoing damage over time
Red: Incoming damage
Green: Healing
Tan: Crowd Control

Whats the difference between radiant destruiction and let's say soul assault? They both deal x dmg over y seconds. One is white dmg the latter orange.

Think they might be counted as a channel rather than a Dot?

@lillybit yes and....? Channelings are damage over time take for example soul assault = channeling = orange.

I'm not an expert, just making a suggestion until someone more knowledgeable chips in!

But for me a Dot is something you do once and it carries on damaging without you, whereas a channel is you doing something the whole time.

With sweeps, you make the hits that cause the damage, they don't happen in their own. RD you have to stand there and keep the beam going.

I haven't used Soul Assault for ages and don't remember it too well so my info on it is taken from Google (which isn't always the most reliable source!) but SA is listed as an instant cast, so something you do once and it carries on damaging without you.

Soul assault and radiant destruction are exactly the same. You don't need to just stand there you can move too.

You have to maintain line of sight and you can't do anything else while channelling.

If this is how SA works then I'd have to agree that it's a bit bizarre that it reports as a Dot. It's not over time if you're doing something the whole time you'd think
