i just get a friend to try out eso with me.. he is very excited.. but!! after spend several hour download the game, he run into countless patching.. ZOS if you want new player to play your game, then please do update your client.. no one enjoy a endless patching...
p.s. i hope he will stay, but from what it seem he is pretty feed up with the endless patching... can't you patch them all at once??? or maybe include some of these patch in the base client people download???

That does not have to do with new player. Half of it is probably local, something did not load properly. The other half is bad luck.

Agree, do service packs with dlc / chapers this is bundled in primary download, add the small stuff after that.stewhead2ub17_ESO wrote: »Well considering he's coming to the party a couple of years late, some extensive patching is inevitable. Assure him it will be worth the wait. A minor annoyance.
Agreed - BUT at the same time ZOS can work to consolidate its patches. It's a practice Warframe does from time to time. The thing is - when they do this, even previous patch holders have to redownload the new consolidated file.
Still, for most people that is better 1 giant patch versus 50 smaller ones.
Big patches that happen about 3 times a year take about 30-60m to download but the small incremental ones which are every week take 5-10m. If they take more than that your internet connection is usually too slow to play the game. Note that the server is patched before the client and that usually takes 6-8h when it's down and you can't play the game.

If he can't get it to download in less then 12 hours his internet is prolly not even good enough to play the game.
Cheers!

What?
My internet (rural) runs at 4 megs. Downloads take ages.
I have no problem whatsoever playing this game or any other. It depends on the capabilities of your PC, not having a slow or fast internet.

Well, some of it is "new player" in that the initial download/install has a lot of stages. I know when I installed the game last year (I had a disk, then it had to download lots of updates) it took several hours & felt like it went through dozens of different progress bars (downloading X, installing X, downloading Y, installing Y, etc, etc, ad nauseum....)
