Logging in taking hours

I spent a total of 4 hours yesterday trying to log in. When I did make it to character screen log in I'd already been kicked several times. On the one occasion I made it into the game the lag was so bad I could barely do a thing.
Is it me or have things deriorated since Morrowind launch?
