Magika Sorc vs Magika DK

Im torn between these two. I havent played in a while ( over a year and half) and im currently updating my gold edition. I know i want to go magika character but with morrowind changes not sure which way to go. I dont have alot of interest in PVP. I like the flames and fire skills of DK, but ive read that sorcs are the better choice for magika. What best race for DK? I know high/dark elf/breton for sorc but what about DK? Ill be by myslef alot as well as i have no friends that play eso.

The same races for magicka DK if you asked me, and mag DK is great if you build it for heavy shock attacks. Due to Molten Armaments •Your own damage with fully-charge Heavy Attacks is increased by 40% while active. With current changes to CP and stats, with some builds increasing Staff attacks, like Elegant set, it can be powerful without any magicka issues.

Have you considered Templar?

All the viability of Sorc, with all the fire based skills of a DK. Also very easy class to play, even in Morrowind its still very much one-button skill (although on a boss you might need to use 3 or 4 skills).

My favourite class, can self heal, mine almost never die unless on a really tough boss fight.

i havent really considered a templar. interesting. Is there some links to DK/Sorc builds i can look at? Ive tried to find some but most seem outdated and not sure how applicable they are and they also are confusing.

Templar damage has been nerfed a lot in successive patches. The sustain nerf also hit it pretty hard since it has some of the most expensive skills. Sorc and DK are the strongest DPS builds now. Since you do a lot of heavy attacks as part of your rotation anyway and you recover a lot of magicka you can go full spell damage glyphs on jewelry and not worry about sustain. Heavy attacks benefit more from spell damage than max magicka.

I'm curious at the comparisons as well.

I'm very familiar with magsorc and magplar but have zero xp with magDK. Both the magplar and magsorc have potent self-healing while fighting even when using dual destro staves. How does a magDK keep her red bar flush in combat?

I can only vouch for mDKs... but from a PVE solo/vet-dungeon or PVP perspective. Mine used 5 Kagrenac, 5 Burning Spellweave, 2 Valkyn Skoria. 5h/1m/1l setup.

I actually like this build the most since it offers survivability and pretty damn good damage. Resource regen is easy with Battle Roar and Ferocious Leap!

If you asking for endgame pve content both classes are viable. Dk as well as sorc. I'm playing magDK myself and it's fun. Best race for DK is darkelf because of the bonus fire dmg, for sorcer high elf is the way to go.

And btw no need to build your dk with boring heavy attack builds. If you need any help and playing on EU add me any time ingame @Cravalllo
