So I see the fliers, I join both the mage and fighter guilds and I set about gathering skyshards. Now that I have some oomph I decide it's time to do those quest lines. So I return to Vvard and.... no quest giver. OH! FACTION! So I head to Auridon and..... no quest giver. So ...

Do I just need to keep hunting down every fighter/mage guild til I find one where it is or what?

I think you have to start the main questline to trigger the guild questlines along with it. Means the whole "VESTIGE!" - "PROPHET!" thing and all.
When traveling to the start city of your faction (Davon's Watch, Vulkhel Guard or Daggerfall) there should be a tenacious guy with a quest which will trigger the main game quest and I bet the guild quests will start as well.

Try dropping the quest and picking it back up. If you are AD look for quest givers in Vukhel Guard.

I did notice that the Vivec Mages Guild recruiter seemed to think he was in Auridon, according to his dialogue. XD

So it sounds like the Vvardenfell Fighters Guild and Mages Guild quests may not have been entirely converted. Try Wayshrining to Daggerfall and Stonefalls and checking the Guild Halls there, in case they inadvertently assigned to the wrong one.

Whatever the case, definitely /bug report this in-game, so the devs know to fix it!
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

See... this is the kind of response that gets my panties in a wad. THERE IS NOTHING TO DROP BECAUSE THERE IS NO QUEST BECAUSE THERE IS NO QUEST GIVER

And solved... Wrong faction. Which sux cuz that means I have to start over. (PvP guild is not this faction.)

So this was just a wrong faction thread after all?

The thing about dropping quests and picking them up again is best way to fix borked quests so keep that in mind.

Also I have noticed lately I have had to join the fg and MG more than once. Even before Morrowind. In fact one character completed the MG quest line, saved Valaste, gained the book memory, reached L10 and I was still asked to join the mage when I went to a chapter

The thing about what you said is that it had no bearing on my problem. I hadnt picked up a quest that I could abandon because I had selected the wrong faction at character creation so I had no quest to abandon. It really annoys me when people reply just to get their facetime on the forum. I stated at the outset that I COULDNT FIND THE QUEST GIVER! And the first REAL response asked about faction. I was angry enough at the first person to suggest I abandon a quest I didnt have because I couldnt find the quest giver, that I almost didnt check my faction affiliation.

People need remedial reading comprehension classes... yeesh.

The fighters/mages guild gives its quests depending on your reputation with the guild. Find lorebooks (mages guild) or kill daedra (fighters guild) to increase your reputation with each guild.

At each guild level increase (which you can see as your skill line for that guild) a new quest will become available from the guild. These quests are given out in front of the guild halls in any faction's territory, but you shouldn't need to be in your own faction's territory to see them.

Don't you "join your faction" by doing the quests on the starter islands? Bleakrock, Khenarthi, and Stros M'kai?

No. If you dont have *Any race any faction* then your race picks your faction. I have ARAF and some how picked the wrong faction. I need to stay in one faction as I need to match my PvP guild.

Im leveling a Warden. My main did the story line and now I level by hunting skyshards so that I have all the skill points I need for all the skills I want (plus any I might need to make changes with). I need both the Fighter and mage guild quest lines to level those skill lines faster. I used my last toon slot to make the warden and having made it to lv 24 with 150 skyshards, I wanted to start those quest lines so I would be done before lv 50. Wrong faction left me 2 choices. Wait til sub hits in 2 weeks and buy a new toon slot or delete and start again. With as painful as that was, I deleted and started over.

The thing about your initial comment is that you already mentioned faction, leading most to assume that you already were aware of your faction and chose to got to vulkhel guard because you were AD. Thus, the next logical train of thought would likely be that you simply forgot that you had the quest and as a result, could not find the quest giver (as solutions tend to be the more simple options). Your blasting of someone for making a mistaken assumption when trying to help YOU with your situation is just pathetic.

And making assumptions instead of asking questions is pathetic. The second reply got it right. How didnt you?
