VMA stage 6 final boss

This final boss fight is sometimes bugged. When you die and respawn either in the arena or at the wayshrine, sometimes more than one pillar will be unwebbed to start with. I just respawned twice to find only one pillar webbed up - so when you kill a hoarvar near the one webbed pillar, the boss is not stunned. (And yes, I am certain they were all unwebbed.) Letting a webspinner web up another and then clearing that does not work either. And of course even if you can get the boss down to below 50% in a short time, you'll die when she does the one-shot spit.
How the hell are people getting Flawless when there's stupid crap like this going on? Or is there something I'm missing here?
