Skill slots

At least let us have 5 weap and 5 class skills at the same time. Especially if you cant use the same weapon on both skill bars unless you buy a duplicate. Seriously, 5 skills total is ridiculous. Anyone who is overwhelmed by more than 5 available skills shouldnt be loose in society anyways. Imagine their panic and how dangerous they are while driving. Yikes.

I'm fine with 5 and ultimate. I basically use the same two or 3 anyway.

I have found myself typically wanting just one more slot.

    5 for active abilities

1 for a passive or toggleable

    1 for ultimate

    Would be perfect IMHO

Console controllers can't fit it in unless you use quickslot spaces.

And quickslot is awkward to use no matter which platform you're on.

    Yeah, but well...console.

One more skill allowed on each bar would be sweet. Heck, I'll even take having 5 skills and zero ultimate on one bar.

Six on one bar and four on the other or replacing your ultimate on one bar with a normal skill would work great imo.

e.g. My Templar has piercing strike which is cheap and gives the debuff, biting jabs which is my spammable, a shield closer, the Templar quick heal in the fifth slot, and absorb magic in 4th slot for nasty mages. What I'm missing is power of the light which makes up for a lack of brutality in Templar skills. It is on my bow bar and my bow bar is mostly prebuffs and aoe. I could put focused charge on my bow bar but charging into melee with a bow!? And having to swap to bow every time I need to close the gap?

Six on each bar plus ultimate would be perfect. Five is just short of a decent working number.....there always seems to be ONE 'must have' skill which you can't fit in, and it's really hard choosing which of the existing five should be sacrificed, if at all.

Just the one extra slot per bar would make all the difference. Having played numerous MMOs with unlimited hotbars (well almost), being restricted so severely is a bit of a culture shock! Not remotely suggesting that ESO should go down that route, but increasing it from five to six would be very much appreciated.

The reason there is five is not to stop people from 'being overwhelmed'.

It's because that's a good restriction to stop you from having too many tools at once... and because they had always planned for there to be a console version, so controllers :p

What? I have 36 keybinds in wow and that's a pretty standard amount. It's not over whelming. More ability bar slots just wouldn't work on consoles so that's why we don't have them.

I said that it is not overwhelming, and that the reasons for there not being more keybinds is not that it would be overwhelming, in response to the OP claiming that it is one of the reasons.

Not every MMO is designed/balanced/etc around having an infinite number of skills available at all times. Some of them like the concept of having to carefully choose what skills you're using. Not because lots of skills is "overwhelming", but because they want you to have to make choices instead of having it all.

(that said, the idea of 36 keybinds just makes me want to cringe and run away. When I played WoW, I only actually used the keys for maybe skills 1-8, everything else I clicked when I needed it. :D )

    "Overwhelemd"?
    Bwhahahaha...

I easily had 30+ keybinds and key+mouse combinations for abilities in almost every other MMO that permitted it.
ESO is the only MMO Ive played with said limitation.
I could easily add 3 more rows of 5 and not even be close to being "overwhelmed".

Nah, the limited number of skill slots was intentionally put in place to prevent players from being too powerful via versatility.

We get 5 keybinds because of consoles please just stop. I don't understand why people constantly try to argue that fact.

Agree. The toughest content has been cleared with a mere 5 skills and ultimate per bar. Choose wisely for the challenge and all is fine.

Wouldn't be so bad I suppose, if some of the passive skills didn't have to be slotted on the active bar.

    Nah!

I love the limited skill setup in ESO, it makes combat so much better then staring at a dozend cooldown timers and mindlessly going through your "perfect rotation"...
Here, you have to -think- and you have to -plan- and you have to consider changing your skill load for the situation at hand...
    ...and I am loving it!

Now, we have had this discussion here before of course, several times...
And the one thing that maaaaaaaayyyyyyybe might be a good idea is perhaps adding one "automatic use" skill slot, like summonings or buffs, that are used automatically when combat commences, and not changed when swapping your weapon, as to not unsummon your pet or whatever. Maybe.

@Caim12 you really bumped a bunch of old threads.

Skill bar changes are not going to happen at this point, we're three years past the point it was likely to have been changed (pre-launch beta) and most people have adapted to the bar swap rotation as a standard.
