So when does our second chance for crate exclusives happen?

The very first sentence spouted about crates was that this was a way to allow players a chance at items that are now long gone from the crown store. Cool.

Crown crates came, and the majority of the items in them are exclusive to crown crates - and have nothing to do with the crown crate theme. The majority of items are not returning items.

Will these items even return?

I think they just said that to ambiguously advertise or create some sort of acceptance for the gambling boxes.

There are some retired items but moreso, this is causing more non crate items to show up on a limited availability.

It's all becoming very clear their model is a very expensive F2P offering in terms of the crown currency items

I've gotten a handful of things in both seasons that were removed items. Mostly pets and menial things, but yeah - obviously the were going to make it 90% new stuff... else nobody would bother buying them lol...

The main thing about Crown Crates was never that they would bring back items - that was just a nice touch... If you honestly expect them to contain mostly returning items, then you need to shake your head and recover your common sense.

Seems some people cry about anything.

@lagrue I didn't say I expected it. I was just calling out what they had chosen to say first. Of course it was likely never their plan.

I just figured it would be nice to know if the (non-themed) crate exclusive items will ever be brought back again.

Yes, but I'm not concerned about that. I'm wondering if items made exclusive to these time-limited crate seasons have any chances of returning.

..I already own all the hero costumes.

Oh, I misunderstood that. I would think that they would recycle the items that people spent gems on after but in general I'd think they are more meant as fillers.

I'd buy the purple Nixad and many other non-apex items... if only they were available outside of crates. As it stands, I refuse to buy crates, so usually I have no need to get more crowns other than those from my ESO+.

They need to put the super old stuff that's been gone from the store for a couple years availible in game as a rare drop IMO so people who want it now can have it when it comes out and others can wait a couple years and just farm it.

With the way RNG works in this game they might as well not add it in like that at all.

Truth is we might at some point see them recycle certain items they felt were popular from Crown Crates of the past. Its obvious they will reintroduce things they think have a chance of enticing players to partake in the Crates. The Clouded Senche Leopard and Black Senche Leopard being two good examples of popular LTOs.

I wouldnt be surprised if we see this happen with some of the items that are Crown Crate Exclusive. The assets are digital so they arent going to expire or go "out of style". And the only reason they remove things the way they do is to drive up interest in those items. Including the Crown Crate items.

It might be a few years before we see these items again. But I would not be surprised if we see some sort of Mega-Crown Crate at some point where you have a chance of getting an item previously offered in a retired Crown Crate.

The "new items in the crates only" thing has apparently started. They did state

In addition to the Apex rewards, we're introducing new content to the Superior, Epic, and Legendary categories, too. This new season gives you a chance to obtain a variety of collectibles you might have missed in previous limited-time offers. Or, they can also contain other retired cosmetic items, pets, mounts, or even new furnishing items such as the impressive Statue or Tapestry of Hircine which are waiting to bring some wildness into your new home.

So in addition to not recycling old items, some new things are never going to be in the store, only in the crates it seems. http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/2017/03/02/next-crown-crate-season-the-elder-scrolls-onlines-wild-hunt
