Rewasd App for Xbox Elite Controller

So I have played with K/M combo on PC for ages. But with this game I like to kick back and use a controller when harvesting or questing. So I went out and bought an Xbox Elite controller with the extra four buttons on the back. The kicker is that I didn't realize those four extra buttons(or paddles) on the back are not independent and are just remaps of the x, y, b, a buttons. With the Xbox Accessories App it does not allow mapping to Keyboard functions.
But searching the forums i found some people have found an App called rewasd, that does allow the remapping of all buttons on the Elite controller. Only problem is I can not find any info on the installation of this app. Does the Mircosoft Accessories app need to be uninstalled before installation of REWASD? I would like to avoid conflicts. Anyone have any advise on this situation that have done this.

P.S. Seems like REWASD just says install and download, but i would think the two would conflict.

Thanks for any help or advice.

In short.....the paddles aren't seperate buttons so while third party software may offer additional options for PC the design is meant for those paddles to mimic existing buttons on the Xbox console

I have it with the Xbox brand chatpad so plugging it in via USB to my PC allows some of those keys to work for text chat but overall....

This controller is not designed for special mapping. It's designed to allow you to change X or Y or make X work as X and paddle 1

Good luck but no the official software does not support or offer the options you seek.
You may feel like it's poor support or a lack of opportunity. $150 is a lot for the limited options it offers IMO but best of luck on your endeavors.

Look at Pinnacle Profile or Xpadder those are two softwares I've used. I prefer Pinnacles software UI and options over Xpadder but I own both so pick one or the other and purchase the software so you have full support and options.

Be mindful not to go too far into the macro and stuff cause it is third party software so the software allows things that do conflict with ZOS' Agreements if you go that deep into it

I agree that it seems like it's poor support or a lack of opportunity on Xbox. I also still have the option to return it. But the controller feels great and i love the layout. If I can get it working with a Third party Remapping app, Ill keep. If not, I may return and try the Wildcat Controller or the Scuf Controller. Seems silly not to make the back paddles Mapable to keyboard.

    Thank you for the advice.

Still looking for anyone that has used REWASD that can chime in.

As a note for those that haven't bought the controller but might be looking into this as well.... Costco has the Elite controller for $120 online.

I owned the Wildcat Controller, the buttons started to to get stuck, and even with some modifying they would not release. It's your money, but i would NOT recommend it.Ended up with the standard Xbox controller and its been fine for over a year, although i do use the comfort pads from the wildcat on the sticks-the only good part about it.

I just bought my controller, and I know plenty of people who's elite controllers were not compatible with their charging stands for one reason or another, luckily mine works just fine and is this one here:

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/power-a-dual-controller-charging-station-for-xbox-one-black/8685203.p?skuId=8685203

I know its not necessarily related to the OP but as someone who looked everywhere for information on this prior to buying, I feel like this will be helpful for others looking for info.

In regards to default button mapping: the paddles can be mapped to any existing buttons on the controller, but thats it. No creating new functions for the buttons, and no combination of buttons can be assigned.

I don't believe there would be any source of conflict, as the xbox accessories app is only active after you pull it up to make changes to the mapping. I Imagine opening it with the controller plugged in after modifying the button mapping with Rewasd might cause issues due to what the Accessories app would deem an invalid control scheme, but otherwise I don't see any reason you would need to uninstall it.

    Hope this is helpful

It is indeed just install and download (actually, other way around ;-). If I remember correctly, I had explicitly "unmapped" paddles in the xbox app to avoid possible conflicts (I had none but just in case), but you definitely do not need to uninstall the xbox accessories app even if you probably never use it after the first launch.
