How Binding "exactly" is ESO Plus?

I've just last night discovered the joys of being able to dye your Costumes yourself instead of buying stamps, cause I got desperate enough to click that Subscribe button and paid for a month. Pretty sure it's on a monthly renewal and it said I could cancel anytime. But is it really that simple? Since I already paid the $15 for the month if I went and canceled it now it would say "Okay you keep getting Plus until the month ends" and then I go back to regular old common player?

I just feel bad about it cause I've been adamantly opposing a Sub cause I have this issue with non-life critical monthly bills. But at the same time I just really wanted to dye my Costumes the way I wanted them to look. :p And I mean the Craft Bag is kinda incredibly nifty. It sure as Hell almost completely emptied my Bank when it transferred everything over. Still though I only really did this to get my favorite costumes dyed the way I want and I'm inclined to cancel after the month ends.

If you stop being a Plus Sub, do your Costumes lose their Dye?

When you stop subbing, you lose access to sub features. I know because my has lapsed because I forgot to update the exp. date on my credit card and it didn't renew. I didn't even notice until I saw thing were not going into my crafting bag.

So if you WERE subbed and aren't subbed anymore, here's what happens:

    1) You lose access to any DLCs you hadn't purchased BUT, your characters keep any skills they gained there. For instance, you may not be able to continue the thieves guild quest line and gain experience in the thieves guild skill line, but characters will retain the skills they did earn.

    2) You lose access to put anything else IN your craft bag. Things remain in the bag, but once you remove them you can't put them back in and nothing new will go into the crafting bag.

    3) You can no longer dye costumes, but any previously dyed costumes will remain the last color they were dyed.

    4) You lose access to the extra bank slots. Like the bag, items beyond your non-sub limit remain, but once something is removed, it can't be replaced until you're under the non-sub bank limit.

    5) You lose all the other perks - extra xp, etc.

My sub never lapsed, but my indicator would be that in the last half year or so I've never seen a forum thread about *&(*^(*%# my dye vanished because I unsubbed, so 99% you keep your dye :D

Now just don't get comfy with your bag space - lol

The stuff in your craft bag is still available, but nothing new will go in there. Also, whenever you craft, stuff comes out of the craft bag first.... which means that all the stuff building up in your inventory & bank will keep doing so until you don't have any in the craft bag.

My characters who were using dyed costumes, they're still dyed. But I'm not sure if all their dyed costumes (the ones I haven't used recently) kept the colors - I know I dyed several costumes on some of my alts, but I can't remember exactly which ones. ;)

(And yes, when you cancel, it keeps the remaining time. I dropped mine ~3 days before the end, just to make sure the billing didn't go through, and the last few days were still plus.)

It's that easy, really. Just hit the account tab on the website here and hit "edit subscription". Then choose to cancel it, and you're done. You keep all currently paid-for subscription time and will not be automatically charged unless you purchase ESO plus directly again.

Once the sub time actually ends: Things stay in your craft bag but will not go back in at all. I assume the new doubled bankspace works the same way if you are over the non-doubled limit (and the housing limit? haven't tried). Costumes stay dyed. Researched items keep their reduced timers (no new items researched get it). You no longer have access to any dlcs that weren't paid for, but none of your items get disabled or anything, If I remember correctly you even keep blade of woe for having the DB skill line unlocked and both TG and DB can be perked and respecced as you wish although there's no content for you to level them with.

Yep, I can confirm that you don't lose your dye. Last year, I took a hiatus from the game where my sub lapsed. Still had all the dyes I'd so painstakingly picked out when I came back.

Sounds like your strategy going forward might be to, every six months or so, buy a month's sub to dye costumes and vacuum your bank out, and then immediately unsub. It clears the subscription model from charging you monthly, but lets you use the perks you really like for a short period of time. :)

    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"
