I understand the reasoning for the change and that it will be a specific boost to Console players who use pets for damage to be able to direct them with heavy attacks, but I'm finding it REALLY annoying.
The change means that as soon as hold the attack button down for anything longer than a tap, the pet will run off and attack whoever you are targeting. Great.
But consider the heal pet. The LAST thing I want is for my Twilight Matriarch to go running after the last person I did a medium weave on (ie. the last person I attacked). When I command the pet to STAY - I want it to stay, perched on my shoulder ready to heal me when I command. I don't want it bounding off out of sight unless I'm shouting 'Heel' every 2 seconds. If I wanted that, I'd just take my dog for a walk.
I imagine its a big enough pain for PVE - but for PVP its a bloomin nightmare! I don't want my healer charging off into the middle of a zerg on its own just because I wove an attack. Result is that combat now goes like this...
Pet-command - Stay!
LA - Curse
Med - wrath (frag procs)
Pet-command - Stay!
Heavy attack - Frag
Pet-command - Stay!
LA - curse,
med - wrath
Pet-Command - STAY ffs!
Heavy attack - Frag
Pet-command - I SAID STAY!! - Bad Dog!! No meaty-treats for you!
And the fact that the pet command is a combination of keys (default 'Y' and block) makes it even more clunky. I can imagine this being a nightmare for console PVP players who use the heal pet.
yes, I know, I can get used to it - and I will - but its just so damn clunky!
Please either not have it apply to healing pets - or have it as a box in the options menu - or at the very least, let us bind 'Stay' to a single key....
