Defiler Set

Red Mountain and Viper are far better than the new medium Defiler set. Anemic damage and it often doesn't hit and the Hunger spawns right in front of you which is annoying. So I ask you,... why? Why make it? And how is it even possible not to know that it is inferior within 5 minutes of testing? It's truly bizarre. Why spend the money paying someone to create it? Who is in charge over there? Is this game made by aliens as a means to study human befuddlement?

I want to love you ZOS but you gotta meet me half way.... Sigh.

That set was the number 1 thing I was excited about with Morrowind. I love proc sets. I know some players disdain them, but I think they are cool. Guess we can just chalk that up as another set nerfed in deference to pvp. sigh...

    Proc sets shouldn't even exist.

I don't know what do you usually do but this set in PvP is still strong as *** and for duels it's gonna be op as *** because I can use it for LoS and the hunger already saved me from meteors and a couple ultimates

This set in the PTS was dealing 10k free damage while providing LoS and a free stun, sounds balanced right?

"Not as good as Viper and Red Mountain" This sounds like a relatively balanced proc set to me...

Yes, with the sustain nerfs proc sets are probably more useful than trolly right now; but we dont need anymore proc sets on the level of viper and red mountain that are instant, unavoidable damage (PvP)

Yes, PvE it would have been way better and more useful if it was designed like viper and red mountain.

The issues with balancing both aspects of the game together instead of separately - double edged sword.

I like proc sets. They allow players to stack more regen while having reliable burst.

I just dont like how they cant crit. Instead of changing the tooltip damage of the proc sets overperforming zos straight up nerfed all the weak ones in the process. The strong proc sets are still op even without crit....

it got nerved massively from 10k to 6k...i think its way to low now becaue of the reasons you have mentionned - they should either up the damage to account for the many times it misses and the time the pet takes to get going or speed it up and increase its accuracy...

I think they should up the damage again, there is really no issue for pvp as the pet is super easy to dodge...so no one would use that - yes balancing pve and pvp is hard but this set should have and could have balanced it perfectly since the mobs don't really dodge a lot they get hit by the damage and in pvp 90% of the times you can simply dodge it...

Does defiler still have its AOE stun that Viper and Red mountain do not?

if so, that might explain the less damage - AOE stuns.

Ps I LOVE THE SET, not because its efficient or works well but it has a beautiful active bonus, themed to its region - its fun and interesting and i applaud ZOS for implementing it, even if it still needs some tuning.... there is nothing more boring than sets with passive boni...

I should have emphasized PVE in my OP.

You sound like an experienced pvp/player, so I take you at your word that it was too much for pvp and the downgrade was warranted. I also take you at your word it is still very powerful in pvp. My complaint is that as somebody who enjoys proc sets (we do exist) I am disappointed that they nerfed it below pre-existing proc sets! It makes ZERO sense.

I'd rather pander to players like you and remove them from the game rather than:
    1) see cool set coming out with Morrowind
    2) get excited for farming a more powerful Open World proc set
    3) pay ZOS 60 bucks on the preorder
    4) find out it sux monkey *** in pve compared to the gear I've had for months already

Now, your disdain for proc sets aside, can I get some sympathy? Thanks!

Fully agree....imo zos is focusing too much on pvp and loosing pve...they are also very i consistent regarding sets.... if pve and pvp are too hard to balance why not have different effects or values... hits x against players, hits y against mobs...

if you solo a lot you can pull groups and be spared from incoming for a moment by the stun, also the morrowind wb seem a little harder compared to usual so it might help stun locking some of the adds to clear them without being hit. I would like 7k or 8k myself on it, but it's not garbage because it's only 6k. They may have hit it too hard, but if they didn't hit it all everyone pve and pvp would be considering the set and it would be the only thing a lot of people ran in both groups. if you have red mountain that's good, but red mountain, at least the jewelry in yellow, was pretty expensive and it cost me a bundle getting mine so if you are fortunate enough to land some purple defiler jewelry off the bat it's stilla nice set to have to even compliment another with. And if you don't like the set you can just sell it, especially the purple jewelry, and anything with divines on armor including green since it's cheap and easy for people to upgrade it (at least to purple) themselves. They'e still selling for pretty decent prices even almost a week in now.

Because the devs or the suits above them are too g'damn stubborn to realize that they can not balance the two together. They have even stated (livestream I think it was) they they have no intention to balance them separately because...stupid reasons. They are doing nothing but hurting balance changes on both sides because of this. I don't think they have the man power because it's a small dev team and heaven forbid they spend $$$ on more devs.

I'm using it on my newbie warden and there's nothing about it like over anything else almost. The Hunger also seems to spawn just as I kill most things so that's pointless. But I'm just using stuff that drops while I'm leveling and this is what I've been getting but nah, wouldn't even consider it. When I bring my main through, I'll deconstruct it all.

I only use Defiler because I get a million pieces of it, all the time and on a level 20-ish character I don't even bother crafting sets. But the Defiler set is truly annoying most of the time. The Hunger usually spawns after the enemy died and even when it doesnt most of the time it just stands there and doesn't even attack. Not really a fan.

I use it on my level 25 warden. It's a pointless set. It procs after I've killed everything. Never seen aoe or a stun. Only use it because I get so many pieces drop.
