I don't need the current armor rewards and the leaderboards are just a product of who has the most time to play. I score very high at the end of death matches but really feel like there is no reward incentive. Maybe bragging rights? Anyone else feel the same way? I challenge ZOS to come up with something more motivating than a few armor sets and leaderboard points. Maybe a way to earn a vma item? Or tokens for dungeons? Or skins? Elo rating? More titles? Free house? I don't know.

I doubt we will see it implemented because you will have tons of "I GOTTA PLAY BATTLEGROUNDS FOR (insert item)? THIS IS BS ZOS - I DONT PVP." threads all over the place.

So? Do the PvE only players in WoW ever lay hands on TOP RANK PvP cosmetics? No. Does anyone care? (from the dev teams?) No.
There should definitely be some sort of rewards. Mostly cosmetic I say. No limitations either.
Mounts, Pets, Unique Motifs, Unique Costumes, Hairstyles, Tattoos, Markings and so on. You get the idea.
You could even add actual Armor and Weapons with special PVP stats to give players advantage. Different sets so not everyone runs the same build too. (Not the current garbage lol, its more like a joke honestly)
Just don't add BiS PvE gear into BG rewards. Unless you want to see the world burn after total ***.

Why not? People who want to farm Burning Spellweave or Necropotence etc in PVE could do that and those who need these sets for PVP could have at least small chance to get some of the pieces from rewards mails.
First I agree with others that the battlegrounds AP and XP rewards could use a boost. If you really enjoy battlegrounds and that's how you want to spend all your time in ESO, it's not enough XP to level up new characters nor enough AP to buy monster helms from the Golden Vendor.
The new sets are interesting, but I'm guessing within a few months they will become decon fodder like all the Leki's restoration staves we got from Cyrodiil rewards mails.
What I'd love to see is at least small chance for any of the overland and dungeon sets to drop in our rewards for the worthy Cyrodiil and battlegrounds mails. So at least there is some small chance to collect the gear you need for PVP by doing what you enjoy.
If any PVE player wants some PVP set for whatever reason, they are all bind on equip, so they can be purchased relatively cheap from guild traders. PVP players on the other hand end up having to farming stuff in PVE dungeons for months that they need for PVP builds.

NOT SO FAST!
Sure, fun is important and is one of the many reasons people play MMOs. There are, however, other motivations for people to keep playing. One of those motivations is the satisfaction a player feels when his character is fully OPTIMIZED. Obtaining BIS gear is one of the most important steps to reach that optimization.
Do Battlegrounds bring the player any closer to that kind of optimization? NO, they do not! Neither does dueling, which I enjoy immensely, and I've complained about that fact in threads similar to this one. The problem with dueling and Battlegrounds is that no matter how much "fun" they are, the player feels a little like he is wasting his time, because there is no chance of obtaining BIS gear. Compare this to Trials and VMA, which are fun for some people, but also offer top notch, OPTIMAL gear as rewards.
Maybe what they should do is include the VMA weapons as rare rewards for Battlegrounds, or better yet... create new BIS gear just for BGs (and dueling, too, while you're at it).
I still remember when people actually played games to have fun... seems that time is long gone.
