BG fun but what's the point?

I don't need the current armor rewards and the leaderboards are just a product of who has the most time to play. I score very high at the end of death matches but really feel like there is no reward incentive. Maybe bragging rights? Anyone else feel the same way? I challenge ZOS to come up with something more motivating than a few armor sets and leaderboard points. Maybe a way to earn a vma item? Or tokens for dungeons? Or skins? Elo rating? More titles? Free house? I don't know.

Yeah they need cosmetics like weapon skills costumes etc.

Yeah, they need a pretty significant tweak, but I'm waiting until group bug gets ironed out to really pass judgement.

Right now, I'd agree that most of the rewards are subpar, leaderboards are almost as bad as Cyro boards in terms of rewarding play time over all else.

Would be nice if they provided a lot more AP and XP - at least enough to level up new characters and AP to buy some monster helms each weekend.

    The fun is the point.

I'd love a token system to get around ridiculous RNG. And shiny things are always nice.

    But if it's fun, win.

Idk. If it's fun I would think that ZOS accomplished their goal

If they wanted people to play a lot of BGs and basically never stop, they could have a system similar to games like Call of Duty have - player ranks. You have a rank that levels up based on XP earned from matches. There are rewards that unlock (dyes, titles, skins, emotes, housing items, costumes, pets, mounts, etc) at certain levels.

When it hits max level, you have the option to "Prestige" and reset your rank, but gain a permanent "Prestige" emblem. These could be shown in front of your player character name alongside or in place of your Alliance Rank.

This system has worked for tons of multiplayer games since forever..... BGs would be addicting asf to ppl if ZOS implemented the exact same system imo. With ESO, a system like this could also involve a currency somehow where we could purchase small amounts of Crown Gems or earn a Crown Crate every half prestige. Stuff like this provides tons of incentive.

    Just my thoughts

On xbox but played the beta.

Did they fix the problems with the group finder? Also exactly how do leaderboard work? There were issues with both on pts. Still haven't made my mind up if I am going to purchase morrowind. Warden being lackluster and unsure how well battlegrounds are working are the main reasons I haven't decided to buy yet

The whole of Battlegrounds relies on a properly functioning group finder. The few even matches I got on pts were tons of fun. To bad even matches were seldom what I was placed in.

You earn gold and ap plus gets sets which can be sold. Leader boards for top item rewards. Similar kind of setup as cyoridll. Just small scale and more fun. i prefer some of the game modes more then others though so wish I had a choice and would like to try cp battle grounds.

I think added incentives are always good for a game.

I doubt we will see it implemented because you will have tons of "I GOTTA PLAY BATTLEGROUNDS FOR (insert item)? THIS IS BS ZOS - I DONT PVP." threads all over the place.

So? Do the PvE only players in WoW ever lay hands on TOP RANK PvP cosmetics? No. Does anyone care? (from the dev teams?) No.

There should definitely be some sort of rewards. Mostly cosmetic I say. No limitations either.

Mounts, Pets, Unique Motifs, Unique Costumes, Hairstyles, Tattoos, Markings and so on. You get the idea.

You could even add actual Armor and Weapons with special PVP stats to give players advantage. Different sets so not everyone runs the same build too. (Not the current garbage lol, its more like a joke honestly)

Just don't add BiS PvE gear into BG rewards. Unless you want to see the world burn after total ***.

Your title answers your own question..

    Did queue work? - Yes
    Did you play - Yes
Did you enjoy BG - Yes

What more is there. It's a game and meant for enjoyment seems like you are getting your money's worth.

There doesn't always need to be a carrot on the end of a stick, that's what ruined SWTOR and will probably ruin this game. In particular, gear cap increases. The entire point of the game becomes getting the sets and by the time you've got the set you don't need it because you just completed all the content they offer trying to get it. Just say not to chasing carrots. If you had fun, that's what counts. If they do have to add an incentive they should all be cosmetic or housing related.

Why not? People who want to farm Burning Spellweave or Necropotence etc in PVE could do that and those who need these sets for PVP could have at least small chance to get some of the pieces from rewards mails.

First I agree with others that the battlegrounds AP and XP rewards could use a boost. If you really enjoy battlegrounds and that's how you want to spend all your time in ESO, it's not enough XP to level up new characters nor enough AP to buy monster helms from the Golden Vendor.

The new sets are interesting, but I'm guessing within a few months they will become decon fodder like all the Leki's restoration staves we got from Cyrodiil rewards mails.

What I'd love to see is at least small chance for any of the overland and dungeon sets to drop in our rewards for the worthy Cyrodiil and battlegrounds mails. So at least there is some small chance to collect the gear you need for PVP by doing what you enjoy.

If any PVE player wants some PVP set for whatever reason, they are all bind on equip, so they can be purchased relatively cheap from guild traders. PVP players on the other hand end up having to farming stuff in PVE dungeons for months that they need for PVP builds.

Sadly BG is based only on Killing Blows and play time. It is not about W/L ratios or the actual objectives and how well you do. There is no ladder system so you just end up farming the same bads over and over.

They did a very lazy job of implementing BG and put no real thought into making it competitive. It will be like IC in a month or two and only used for people who want to farm an item or two.

To all the people saying "fun" is the whole point, and that the OP answered his own question:

    NOT SO FAST!

Sure, fun is important and is one of the many reasons people play MMOs. There are, however, other motivations for people to keep playing. One of those motivations is the satisfaction a player feels when his character is fully OPTIMIZED. Obtaining BIS gear is one of the most important steps to reach that optimization.

Do Battlegrounds bring the player any closer to that kind of optimization? NO, they do not! Neither does dueling, which I enjoy immensely, and I've complained about that fact in threads similar to this one. The problem with dueling and Battlegrounds is that no matter how much "fun" they are, the player feels a little like he is wasting his time, because there is no chance of obtaining BIS gear. Compare this to Trials and VMA, which are fun for some people, but also offer top notch, OPTIMAL gear as rewards.

Maybe what they should do is include the VMA weapons as rare rewards for Battlegrounds, or better yet... create new BIS gear just for BGs (and dueling, too, while you're at it).

I wouldn't know, every single BG I played over the last two days just abruptly ended without ever showing a scoreboard because the losing teams would just...quit. So no progression from that at all. Have a quest to win 3 BG, and I can't even complete one, much less get a win.

Also, there are no brackets, so a level 10 picks up the BG quest and thinks "yea, lets do some instanced pvp!" and gets matched with a bunch of max level players he or she can't even damage.

    Fun in the right circumstances.

I imagine most of us are playing this game for fun - if anyone is no longer having fun they will usually stop playing.

Those who have fun doing PVE dungeons over and over are earning a lot of XP to level up their character, Undaunted Skill, also picking up monster helms and other set items they can use for PVP or PVE.

Those who have fun doing quests are earning XP to level up their character and picking up the overland set items.

Those who have fun playing in Cyrodiil are earning AP and XP enough to level up characters, Alliance War skill, also earning enough AP to buy some monster helms each weekend or other items.

Unfortunately, those who have fun playing in Battlegrounds are not earning enough XP to level up characters, nor enough AP to buy anything from the Golden vendor or even improve their Alliance War skill line. So if you really enjoying the hell out of it, you might prefer to just play battlegrounds all the time, but you are kinda being penalized for choosing this activity instead of questing, PVE dungeons or Cyrodiil.
