There has to be a better method for leveling new characters. I currently have a bunch of low level characters that I'm trying to level up by questing and it's so slow. I know grinding is faster but you don't get enough skill points that way. Seems like questing is the only way to get enough skill points, unless you ran around and got every single skyshard (which would be a huge pain for me cuz I'm on Xbox1). I mean I only gain like two levels a day and I can only play on the weekends. Plz help or share some advise bc im bored as **** just questing.

Whether you want to level via grinding, quests or PVP, there are some things you can do that give you XP bonus. It's a big help if you make full set of purple gear with training trait on every piece. This can be as much as 88% XP boost depending on your weapons. Then buy some psijic ambrosia potions or XP scrolls (between 50%-150% XP boost), group up with one other person (another 10%), pledge of mara can be another 10%, ESO Plus membership is another 10%, and then if you go to a Cyrodiil campaign where your faction has some enemy keeps it can be up to 13% XP boost.

Just playing the game normally these days, doing quests or PVP you can level up to 50 in about a week or two. If you are grinding with some of those buffs, you can do it in a few hours.

Eventually you will want to go back and get those skyshards and mages guild lore books, but it's faster if you wait until after you have rapid maneuvers. You will also want to level up Fighter's Guild, which is much faster via grinding at dolmens or some similar place with undead/daedra.

Are you wearing a full set of training trait gear and are you using XP pots?

I rolled a new character on the weekend and got to level 14 inside 12 hours just by standard questing and story line, without using XP pots or doing any grinding. I don't want to level too fast as I wanted to collect skill points. I will now leave that character in BWB (non vet PVP campaign) until he reaches level 50 and see how far up the Alliance War ranks he can get.

I guess you either grind or quest.

Always start new characters right when double xp periods begin. Once you're a little higher you can start knocking out group dungeons in PUGs.

I'm not sure when Xbox is getting the most latest update, but if you look at the patch notes they have made some changes to the XP you get from questing. They said they want xp gains to be more inline with just killing mobs for xp. I never quest but it sounds like questers will be getting more xp now for completing quests.

Also, I don't know if you like to PvP but I normally grind to level 10, and then PvP. I have so much fun PvPing that I don't notice how long it takes to level. To me PvP is the most enjoyable way to level. When PvP is slow, I will step out and get a few skyshards for points.

Getting to 50 isn't bad. Its getting all the lorebooks and skyshards that's just brutal. At level 50 you skyshards skill points should become account wide like cp. I could almost say lorebooks as well. That *** is so boring.

Dang you leveled for 12 hours. See I can only level up a character ( questing or grinding) for 3 hours a day MAX. Meaning on a good day where I'm feeling really motivated, I am able to level for about 3 hours. But usually I get really bored after an hour or two.

You mentioned you got bored doing quests or grinding, why not try something else, maybe leveling up in battlegrounds or blackwater blade? Just do whatever you would normally want to do if you were playing the game but wearing purple training gear.

OP wants to grind character up to level 50 but isn't "feeling really motivated" to grind said character up to level 50.

    There's a paradox somewhere ...

I started a StamSorc during the Jan. 2XP and got to level 50 in five days. I did a few quests, including some main quests, but mostly I went zone to zone doing all dolmens, some World Bosses, many of the surface sky shards, and a lot of lorebooks. I just used whatever gear dropped. Both Mages and Fighter guild were almost 10 when I hit level 50. I'm doing the same routine with my new Warden. I hit level 15 after 7 hours today with no XP boosts.

Are you on pc or console. Because on console we don't have the "easy-mode" addons that tell you where every skyshard and dolmen is. Instead we have to look a small, bad resolution pictures online of where theses things are and try to find them around the general area they are placed on the picture ( which tends to be now where close for skyshards ). I'm just curious. Sorry if my comment sounded kinda rude. Im just stating, I'm not mad. But maybe I'm a bit jealous lol...

Not really. Oh, sure, you can speed things up, that's why they have training gear of XP potions... or those double XP events... but as is quite obvious, that won't get you -all- the skill points you need to take full advantage of everything, since those come not only with levels, but also from skyshards and major quests.

Personally I would say, just stop fixating on the goal, and enjoy the ride instead! Yes, it can be a little bit boring doing the same questings over and over again... so you have to plan a bit so it won't be too bad. Mix your playtime between crafting on your main, levelling an alt, PvPing on your main, levelling an alt, dungeon run on your main, levelling an alt... etc.

But really, it's not a race to see who reaches the end fastest, it is much better an experience if you take it slow and enjoy every step of the way. A bit like lovemaking I suppose... ;)

Well if you're interested in skyshards and leveling fast I'll give you my method. Grind mobs, weather they're overworld mobs or skyreach runs. Once you hit lvl 50 do the main quest for each region, completing main regional quests award skill points. While you're in that region make the most of time by visiting delves and public dungeons as those have skyshards too. Complete the prophet's quest line and each guild main quest.

Do not run misc quests. Those rewards you with nothing but a few coins and a junk item. Also don't forget group dungeon quests, you get skill points for completing those too and most dungeons have a part 2, which means 2 skill points for said dungeon.

If you skip dialogues and rush you should be done pretty quickly.

You don't have my life - I'd be bored if not for playing the game. During the week I play for about 4 hours most days and Sat/Sun can put in up to 10 hours each day - rather sad really :(

Anyway, I created the character on Saturday and between Saturday and Monday night would have spent about 12 hours on this character. I was also doing daily writs on 8 other characters every day and trading in the guild store, so it was definitely not 12 hours straight on one character.

And... I have been doing this for over 18 months, leveling 8 other characters (including crafting up to level 50) along the way, so the game does not bore me very often.
