Templar Nerfing

I am currently leveling a Magicka Breton Templar (currently at level 7)

So far the leveling is fun and really good

a) I have heard that they are nerfing Templars today. Will this impact their solo leveling capacity ?...Have I chosen a bad time to level one ?

b) With today's patch again I heard that they are nerfing the experience gained for each level so it will take longer for me to ding 50 ?..Any truths behind this ?

c) Also is Mag Templar a good class to get CP 600 ?..My ultimate objective is to level a Templar all the way to 600 CP via solo (if possible) so that I will be able to boost my alts with 600 CP passives when I level them. So how good is Mag Templar for that now ?

As always tx mates.

Adjusted Experience (XP) for Levels 1 – 50
The experience needed to level from 1 to 50 has been adjusted. Earlier levels now require less experience to obtain, while later levels will require more.
    • The total time to level from 1 to 50 should generally remain unchanged, and anyone currently leveling should not see any decrease to their current level progress – in some cases you may see an increase in level depending on progress.

Not sure about the changes coming up, I'll wait to see what they are when they come out on console in a couple of weeks. I doubt any nerfs will change the solo PVE experience much beyond making fights last longer. They are more likely to have a bigger impact in group content and PVP.

Not sure about any XP nerfs but you cam overcome that by wearing gear with training trait and using XP pots. My magicka Breton Templar if the most fun and versatile character I have ever used. I was at CP cap before I rolled it but suspect you might get a bit bored running one character, in one role, all the way to CP 600.

If you are new to the game, I'd focus on having fun, enjoying the game, the story line and the quests, rather than the CP 600 goal. Maybe start off another character or two and rotate through them to break it up a bit. Take your time to learn what the characters and skills are capable of.

Most of the templar nerfs are to healing and regen synergy who is only relevant in groups.
the CP nerf will not affect an new player with no cp, an alt with plenty of cp will be affected still an alt main benefit is the crafted training set and hopefully an better understanding of the game.

And don't worry about max cp, enjoy the game. CP160 however is an important milestone as you reach gear cap so any gear will be max level and can be used for a long time.

Agree, but its an bit off topic here.
I'm strongly against the nerfs but still see that they have minimal impact on an low level new player.

The xp changes from 1-50 is supposed to make it faster to level the first levels and slower the last ones.
This is an good thing as an level 10 has an lack of skill points and just one bar while an level 30 is pretty rounded, it would be pretty easy for an level 30 to solo grind to 50.

I agree, they should buff things to equal standing instead of nerfing stuff.

You could buff things to the same level just as you can nerf things to the same level. There is one thing that ZOS has refused/never considered buffing and that is Health pools. All long as this trend continues, nerfs have to happen to reduce power creep. Assuming HP remains static, I think we need nerfs. Large sweeping nerfs to healing, then to burst/damage (it's complicated), then to monsters, then maybe to defensive things. It's hard to judge the state of tanking after so many hypothetical fixes. Regen and resource sustain is mostly separate from the balance of the above, but it is encouraging to see they are willing to make sweeping changes for the benefit of the game.

Of course, they do go overboard a bit and don't always nerf in the right ways. Just because not all of the incoming nerfs are savory, though, doesn't mean all nerfs are bad.

Disagree, won't add my voice to it because I'm happy without yet more power creep thanks.

If you only ever buff then you just keep stacking power, nerf is just people's term for balance changes they don't like, every change is just balance.

It might be tough for a few patch cycles but templar might be rebuffed by the time you get to 600 cp and it actually matters. They made big changes but just don't have time to put the game back to (the new) balance again

I agree that not all nerfs are bad.

For example the nerfs to BSW and CP sustain has resulted in a diversification of item builds for Magicka versions of the classes.

Silks of the sun or BSW (it is close) for MagDK.
    Scathing mage/willpower for MagNB
    Julianos/war madien for Magplar
    Netches touch/necro for MagSorc

Plus Seducers and Alteration mastery options for heavy sustain.
The choice between a mag regen enchant or more spell damage on your jewels.

That is what a good nerf looks like takes out the top dog and results in people having to reavulate everything, perhaps in time all the builds will converge again but hopefully it remains distinct from each other.

I have concerns about other nerfs however particularly around tanks and Templar tanks.

Just play the game normally. You will get there. Depend on how much time you spend playing it can take weeks or months or years. If you grind XP to get to CP600, you will dream of Skyreach every night and then become crazy. Also, you will have no idea how to play the game, and get rekt in both PvE and PvP.

Agreed. Also, everyone offers "buff all classes equally" as a counter to nerfs, but far fewer players actually accept and enjoy the implications of those buffs to others. Everyone loves a buff until they get a 30k Incap.

This is not the direction I thought this thread would go.

There's a lot to the game, so I would just take your time to adjust. There' no real rush to get to cp 450 to 630 all we have is 4 veteran trials that are somewhat buggy and full of lag... You can do mid level game play at CP160 which is almost everything except vet trials.

    a) The templar balances where for endgame and pvp (might suck if you are stamina templar)

    b) There's many ways to level up
Questing - Best story telling ever!
Dalies - Things to do with friends
Grind locations - skyreach and others

    c) for the most part it's a matter of skill and you can play as you want
