Do I need a certain spec HDMI cable to connect my new laptop to my 50" TV, or will any old HDMI cable do?

Thanks for any suggestions

    It's probably 1080. It's 5 years old.

Hm, without knowing the specs of your TV or laptop (will you be doing 4K etc) I'd say any old one will do. Well I do believe there was a dif between the ones that sent multichannel over HDMI (I don't meant the native digital signal here), but otherwise you should be ok. with one form i.e. 2010/11 I think.

    Is your TV 1080p or 2160p (4k)?

A basic high speed cable should be fine.
