How about 'some' realism for an RPG. I mean seriously, when people go out bow hunting, they pull up their bow in preparation for the kill, the bow doesn't automatically release! Bow hunting is about holding the shot, waiting for the right moment to release... and if players cannot figure out how to 'let go' of the button hold when they want to release, they shouldn't be using a bow! But no, everyone else has to suffer because of the people who have no common sense whatsoever.

Actually I did... I have a sport-bow in my house and one time on some festival I tried out "real" medieval bow.... and to be honest It was not that hard to "hold" it. And I am not that strong... I am just a regular nerd xD

So the "hold" option should satay.

The length of time you can hold a bow at full draw in 'real life' depends on a lot of factors, so arguing about realism in what is a fantasy game is missing the point. It's about how the weapon feels to use in game. Does it feel right? And to me, I expect to be able to hold a bow at full draw for 'x' amount of time, so having it shoot automatically just doesn't feel right.

From a game mechanic point of view, the bow is week compared to other weapons in game, so being able to hold and time your heavy attack was one of the few advantages it did have over the other weapons, so this change also takes that away too.

Good, now hold it back while moving and being attacked. This is more to amuse myself really. They arent too hard to hold back, but a bow capable of firing hard enough to pierce armor is going to be a have draw. Holding it back isnt enough

Lets not confuse war-bow, longbow and short bow.
The type of bow that is used in eso is a short bow as you carry your bow on your back (it is not taller than your character).
Longbows and war-bows are harder to "hold" because thy are basically "larger" springs.
However even in this video this dude can "hold" long-bow to aim it and then release it...

    Yes.

And truth to be told, holding them is far easier them drawing them.

Although, it of course does depend on how long...
...three seconds to aim? No problem.
...half a minute while sneaking through the woods? Feel the burn, and likely fumble your shot because at this point your arms will be a bit wobbly!

    So I don't really mind the auto-release...

Personally I would not mind something in between... give our characters the ability to hold your bow at a fully charged heavy attack for a bit, but the longer you hold, the higher the chance gets that your charactrs fingers will "slip" and the arrow will fire with an reduced chance to hit what you aim at... but hey, that's me, I love such small realism annoyances!

    works for Hanzo lol.

I was happy I hit someone in a first-person shooter, sry for random gif. I know i suck at OW.

srsly tho, bow change feels weird, should be able to be drawn and held, maybe with a limit of 10 secs. charging it like a staff seems weird tho...
