One night you went to bed after binge playing 6 hours of ESO, then the next morning you woke up in the Riften inn at anytime in elder scroll history. You went outside and there was a wagon that could take you anywhere. But you had one thing in mind and you had to do it quick, was join a guild and pledge your allegiance!

✭✭✭✭✭The companionswhile I always play thief/assassin characters and prefer stealth, I feel that living that way would be tiresome and risky.
dawnguard are too specific and I don't want vampires after me all the time, fighters guild has always bored me.
but the companions are quite noble, and there is a greater sense of companionship (pardon the pun) within the group. your more of a family. plus the option of becoming a werewolf is pretty cool.
I just think if it were real world that's were I would want to end up ^_^ESO player since beta.

In Skyrim I like the Dark Brotherhood storyline better but I had so much fun with Karliah's storyline!!

my problem with the thieves guild is in Oblivion, Skyrim, and ESO, they are on the brink of collapse, I think this should be a joke or meme by now. in every game they are about to collapse for one reason or another and we have to fix it.

Mages guildTo be honest most of these groups don't have the best life expectancy...
Theives- spending life on the run sounds fun until you realize you have to live in the sewers of the people you rob. Provided the guards don't kill you on sight for picking up a potato.
DB- get caught once and your screwed, and you're the expendable new member...
Companion- likely to die in some forgotten cave because of a trap you missed.
Dawnguard- you're fighting monsters of darkness day in and day out, how long till one finds you unaware after dark?
Mages- how many apprentices do we find dead in the various story-lines again?
Fighters- basically one step down from undaunted, remember that time your group was wiped because you were new?
Vampires- live longer but be hunted down by just about everyone, plus you will always eventually degenerate into a bloodfiend.
The legion has a tendency to die en-mass in wars despite their powerful reputation and the stromcloaks are misguided bigots who are planning to go to war with effectively 3 countries shortly after losing a large number of this generation's troops in another pointless war.
Never played morrowind and its lore never really interested me, so I can't say much about its groups.
This is all moot if in the process of ending up in tamriel we end up vestiges or otherwise death-less beings. But at least the mages guild gives you the option of staying in town and reading for something other than your life, besides magic could be very useful in a number of daily situations.2 -
