Is it a mistake to raise all three stats for a Shadow Nightblade?

Hi guys,

I'm up to level 38 with my Nightblade and I'm doing ok. I use both stamina and magica so I've been raising them both, and of course health. They're all on 16. Is that a bad idea? Is it better to raise one or the other? I seem to run out rather quickly.

Thanks.

It is Ok for regular content and not Ok for the end game content.

So don't bother too much now - distribute them as you like. You can always reset the distribution for in game gold when needed.

Long term? Kinda. Well, okay, with one major caveat. If you're a tank (and, I honestly don't care what anyone wants to weigh in with about NB tanks being non-optimal, for this discussion), then splitting your resource pools is a legitimate option.

If you're DPS or a healer, then you do not want to split your pools (unless you really know what you're doing, and have a plan). The reason is, your damage (or healing) scale with your resource pool. So a character with 64 in Stamina will do more damage with a stamina ability than someone with only 16 points spent.

In theory, the tradeoff is that, because everything feeds off one resource pool, you run out faster. In practice, the current meta will have your party topping off your pools constantly, so you're giving up damage for no benefit. Post-Morrowind, that might change, and hybrids may have a more concrete role.

For now... I wouldn't worry about it too much. You can always respec when you hit 160, if it's not working for you then. In the mean time, try to learn the game, and enjoy yourself.

When you get to Level 50, and start learning more about the End Game and the mechanics of the game, you'll realize that spreading your attributes out equally was a mistake and you're better off in the long run just maxing one resource pool.

It's okay if you want to put a few points into Health, but one day you'll have to decide on either focusing on Stamina, or Magicka. Since I assume from the OP you like being sneaky, you should focus on Magic.

Depends. If you mainly fish, craft or trade then you can spread points evenly among your resource pools without any issues.

If you intend to engage in combat, it's better to focus on one pool.

If you are a tank it is fine.. if you intend to do damage it is a bad idea.

Shadow tanks... at least for now.... do work. I am not sure if it will work after morrowind though. Because your most important ability, siphoning strikes, got badly nerfed.
