Guild Extortion

I am a returning player and had to find 5 guilds again. Found a good one and my stuff sells quite quickly. However, just received a mail stating I need to pay 2500 weekly (their rules). Is this a common practice or just plain extortion ? I want to stay with this guild but its bugging me to pay this amount weekly.

The guild system in eso is underdeveloped so guilds restort to fees to keep traders. As to say just pick a different type of guild if you want something else.

That's cheap. If your guild has a good trader location (in a busy city), then you will easily turn a profit.

Most guilds with a trader in a main city are ~5k+ a week.

The only thing I get annoyed about is the actual task of remembering to pay. I wish the game had auto pay/direct deposit capabilities lol

I'm on Xbox/NA if it matters. Hope this helps :)

Top trading guild fee has increased from 5k last year to 10k this year per week.
So 2.5 k is pretty good actually. If no guild, things don't sell and no profits.

Good trading guilds don't extort their members. If you get begged for money, leave, they don't care for you. Only for your money.

I am member of a great trading guild that can consistently provide quick sales for whatever I want to sell.

Due to the guild traders that the guild usually goes for increasing in cost up to 5-7million since the housing expansion - The only way the guild can survive is to have a 10k per week compulsory fee or run regular raffles and auctions. Since the guild leaders actually have a life and family they just went with the 10k per week or you will be kicked. It's very straight forward and I have no problem with it all. People who think this is exploitation are newbies who don't know how to make gold and should move to a more casual trading guild. I choose to pay 50k per week since I make over 1million in sales per week so 50k is nothing to me and I also know there is a lot of whiny newbies who just refuse to pay.

If you really feel rebellious than make events at some unknown area every week or every day. I would pay to listen and see life action roleplay.

Trading / selling in this game is terrible, if you came here for that aspect, you will be sorely disappointed.

Well if sux if you are trader guild management and buying trading merchants for 6 million per week since the cost has doubled, then have memebers complain about 10k membership fee. From a trading guild memebers point if view, seems pretty great to me. Master merchant add on to keep track of prices and had no issues selling items. Would be good if they made a few adjustments to guild trader bidding so it's not a blind bid and more options like increasing or decreasing sales tax

There are plenty of trading guilds with decent locations that do not have a fee as long as you sell. Many of them also have low sales quotas and if one week is light that usually does not matter as long as you have a history.

Long story short - taxes are not enough to cover weekly fees for Guild Traders. If you're not paying - you're carried leecher.

Yes.. very funny or fishy; however you want to say it. Funny how someone can advertise/recruit that their guild guarantees a top spot in a high traffic capital city every week, and certain guilds do. Good for certain GM/guilds (allegedly) to come together and put a conglomerate together where certain guilds are "guaranteed" a top spot every week. If you're a paying member within any of this conglomerate, then you're fine. However, unfortunate to other guilds that don't want to conform to those within this tight circle. Oh, the drama in-game.. so Mafioso. How this game has become. Ha ha

It's extortion. The guild trader system is a terrible idea executed poorly. And, it's made all the worse by not having a single access point to search all traders. Sometimes, being unique is a bad thing.

It's not extortion, some guilds don't make enough gold to buy spots with just tax on sales. In practice 2.5k is basically nothing so if anything you have quite a cushy trader. A lot of people seem to expect to the leader/s of trading guilds to front all the costs which is quite the attitude tbh (leeching). If you don't sell often enough my advise would be to user zone chat in popular cities but don't spam of course.

It's definitely not extortion. Guild leaders need gold for system bid, and if you want good trading place which sells your goods fast you must participate in the costs. Otherwise find yourself a guild with trader in the wild which will not take any of your money, but your items would not sell that fast, or won't sell at all.

Learn to participate in common good, by paying fees you support the guild trader which is kept in best location for you and other members - to sell your goods fast and in good price.

Learn to understand that the life means not always to take and give nothing in return, usually before taking you must give something first. Selfish members in trading guilds are the worst members.

Moreover if you are affraid of being kicked because you didn't pay, don't worry, you can re-join the guild later, and start over. I did that several times, was kicked due to inactivity or lack of sales, forgot to pay on time a fee to stay, but returned to same or other guilds later. I'd say most leaders don't recall regular members names.

Guild traders cost 2-10 mil weekly for a good spots.

Feel lucky to be in a decent trader if your numbers suck.

    Cheers!
