Sheogorath. No one else would even care. Its not like its a surprise.. but the recent post forum search is dominated by topics of interest, not bile. Too negative and they violate the TOS, thus the deletions.

It does happen that threads get "pushed down" intentionally. I haven't noticed it as much recently, but it used to happen all the time. In one 2015 PvP thread that got heated (imagine) a mod even posted that they were going to leave it open but sink it. That was the first time we'd seen it acknowledged.

ETA: I still don't care what OP is on about though.

Basic forum administration tools include a function called, "sinking." A post that's been sunk, will be ignored when sorting threads by the most recent post. Meaning, new posts to it, will not keep it on the front page, and it will disappear as new threads are created.

Seriously, anyone who's moderated a forum (outside of some really barebones kits), should have encountered this tool. It's not a secret, or at least it's not a well kept secret.

Sinking is a legitimate tool for dealing with threads that are being mindlessly bumped, or have an unusually high post frequency, but are only interesting to a handful of users. I remember, when I was a lot younger, deliberately trying to break the quote tags on a webcomic's forum, with a couple friends. Okay, I was old enough to drink back then, but still...

Anyway, yeah, moderators or admins sinking posts as a way to kill them without actually shutting people out from continuing the discussion is a thing. It's a real tool. There's nothing inherently nefarious about it.
