Hello there to all!

I have just started playing this game and I wanted to ask the great ESO community some questions. Many of them may seem to you as silly ones, but do not worry, it is because they are silly and not because you read something wrong.

1) Justice System
- The Justice System is fantastic. I cannot remember another MMO to share something similar. My problem is that I steal some times without want me to. Then the guards trying to catch me and if I do not flee successful I loose all my money and the items that may worth of something. Is there a way to prevent my character to miss-click?
- When I steal out on the open, I see a red/white circle in the bottom right corner with a gold price. I assume the gold price is for my head :P But the colors red/white what do they represent? (I find out the fences and the outlaw refugees an awesome experience)
- When a price has been placed for my head, other players can attack me as well?

2) Stolen Items
- I stole these items Deathclaw ***, Hozzin's Snowshow, Linnea's Luscious Foot Polish, Skeever Trap. They worth a lot of money if I sell them to a Fence. Do I you think I am going to need them later on or do I sell them?

3) DLCs
- The Business Model of this game I see that it is not a clear B2P game as e.g. Guild Wars 2 or BDO. They lean towards the Subscribers, and the paid DLCs to survive witch I respect. As I understand, every new DLC bring new Tiers in Weapons and Armors for those who are already in end game. How important the new content is for someone who did not purchase it at once to survive in the PvE or PvP in ESO?
- Having in mind that I cannot afford a monthly subscription at the moment but I can pay mostly 20-30 Euros every 3-4 months for my hobby (Video Games) can I hope to some sales on the DLCs?
- Do they come out sooner than every quarter?

4) Trading Guilds
- I am playing on the EU Server. How difficult is it to enter in one Trading Guild for new players?
- Which is my account name and where I can check it out?

5) Forums Discussions
- Forgive my ignorance, I am reading in forums a lot of players worry about he changes Morrowind patch is bringing. From your experience, every DLC/Xpac that comes out, is considering to have P2W aspects locked behind a paywall or some players overreact as always in those types of changes?

I am looking forward to play ESO. I have bought the Gold Edition and as in every MMO I like both PvE and PvP and I was considering to pre-order the Expansion as well. I just want to know that with my tiny budget I would find a place to stay and I will not find myself to strangle if I decide to play as a competitive player.

Thanks in advance

Friendly

    1. Red represents heat and decreases quickly. White is the bounty and decreases much slowly. Heat determines the guards actions towards you. The first to stages won't do much but if you go into the third section then you'll become kill on sight.

    2. No. Those stolen items will serve no purpose later.

    3. DLCs are only every quarter and going forward only 3 of them will be purchasable with crowns. The 4th one is a chapter/expansion and needs to be purchased separately. While each DLC does bring new weapon and armour sets, there really aren't different tiers for them. Some do perform better than others though

    4. If you're looking for a guild, head down to the recruitment section of the forums. You should be able to find a guild there. Just leave them a message asking for an invite and they'll send you one if they have room.

    5. There is some good, constructive discussion on the forums but every time there is a new update/DLC, the sky starts falling and people freak out. I wouldn't worry about it too much since most of the people complaining don't test the changes and just follow the herd of other people complaining.

you can turn off autoloot for stealing, stolen items ("treasures") exist only to be sold, most items added by dlc can be traded or sold between players, probably not very difficult to join a guild if you just ask in zone, morrowind will kill the game eso is dead let's all move to fallout online

Hey welcome to ESO! Here is a fishy stick!

    1) Red is the heat i.e. if guards will chase you down and kill you. Eg you might have a low bounty but your heat can be high and the guards will chase after you. If you have no heat then they will arrest you if you do near them and ask you to pay your bounty instead. And no, players cannot kill you, just guards! Sometimes if your bounty is high storekeepers will not speak to you till you clear your bounty. You can however use the merchant and fence and banker in the Outlaw Redfuge or go to Cyrodiil where they don't care about bounties.

    2) Those items were placed to be sold so go ahead and sell them! You can check the description on the tooltip and it says Treasure I think? If it says recipe/furnishing/motif, you can learn it or launder it so you can keep it/place it in your house etc

    3) DLCs don't generally introduce different tiers of weapons so you can craft the highest level weapons and armour even in the base game. What they do introduce however is new sets which sometimes are bound to pickup so you can't get them without going there (eg Spell Power Cure set in Imperial City, White Gold Tower dungeon). There are also special crafting stations everywhere in the world (and in the DLCs) that have powerful armour sets (eg Julianos in Wrothgar, Armor Master in Imperial City that can only be crafted there. You can however get a friend to craft it for you or visit a friend's house who has an attuned crafting station for them. You don't generally NEED them till you want to start trying higher level content where making sure your build is optimised is a good thing. And you can play through all the DLCs at any level for the quest and fun since everywhere is scaled. (Keep in mind Imperial City is a PvP/PvE mix so you might find players trying to kill you)

    4) Your username is the name your use to log in to ESO and you can also see it in your chat box if you say something. Trading guilds are easy to get in, just find an advert in the zone chat and whisper the person who is doing the advertising.

    5) Forums are always a place of overreaction but typically because players care about the game and don't want it to fail. Morrowind will certainly have drastic changes to combat but it will basically return combat to how it used to be before the introduction of the champion point system (a method of progression after level 50) and people need to get used to it again. The devs say that this will return the combat to how it was intended and will be good for the long term health of the game, but people don't like feeling like they have to fight for their power gained every time there is an update. And this change means that they will have to change their builds etc to accommodate the changes. It is however something to keep in mind while levelling. MMOs are liable to change and to change into something you won't like.

    1. There is add-on that will prevent you from accidentally stealing items but each time you'd actually want to steal something you'll have to double-confirm each attempt. The best way is simply to pay more attention. While having a bounty you can't be attacked by other players - only guards will do so (or some NPCs that you're robbing). You can clear your bounty in Outlaw Refugee Camps (each city has one) without losing stolen items.

    2. Those are cosmetic items with "flavor text" and they serve no other purpose than selling.

    3. There are DLC wholepacks being sold from time to time so you can pick something real cheap (however you'll have to wait for it and you will not know it's gonna be there until ZOS announces it). Regarding items being "hidden" behind paywalls. Basically not having DLC is simply not having access to the content and the set items that drop there (e.g. Moondancer set in Maw of Lorkhaj Trial or Velidreth set from Cradle of Shadows dungeon). However, as a casual player you do not need most of those items if any at all - there is enough crafted sets (like Julianos that will allow you to play at semi-competitive level while missing max. 5-8% of min-maxed character that virtually take endless hours to gear up via farming).

    4. If depends on how good the guild you want to be. The most populated places mean better and faster sales, but also higher requirements from the players, because the guilds have to pay higher fees to maintain the trader kiosk. Arguably, the best hubs are: Belkath (Craglorn), Rawl'kha (Reaper's March), Mournhold (Deshaan), Wayrest (Stormhaven), Elden Root (Grahtwood). To be in such guild you'd be required to have ~20-100k weekly sales or risk being booted. Some mid-range guilds might ask you for weekly fee/tax. You can also go for the low-end guilds that have no requirements, but keep in mind they usually are capable of maintaining secluded trading spots so you'll have a harder time selling your items there, because not as many people visit those places.

    5. Regarding Morrowind patch changes to meta - long story short - it won't affect you much because before you'll actually learn the game the new meta will be everything you experienced. So there will be no frustration over your "previously owned builds" not working anymore. Regarding "the best" gear/items being hidden behind DLC content again - it's only partially true. Many mid-range players fall into the trap of thinking that having that gear will make them powerful while in 90% it's understanding how to play your role (understanding rotation as a Damage Dealer - how to rotate DoTs, spammables, or how to properly support with healer - e.g. many people do not understand that healer is also responsible for providing resources to the group like Stamina and Magicka and damage-buffs/debuffs and not only healing the group, same applies to tanks - that apart from taunting the enemies should actively buff the group - e.g. with Warhorn). You can still buy the items from DLC zones from other players even if you do not have the access to the DLC content and as long at the item is not Bound ("Bound item" is a mechanic that prevents the item to be traded with players from outside the group you were playing your content - applies to most Trials sets and Dungeon Monster sets items).

    Very funny. :|

@Oldar, you'll probably see this again, or something similar, so I'll address what's going on there. Morrowind drops next month, and will add a new zone along with an additional class. One of the things is a minor nerf that will affect a small percentage of level capped players, which has lead to a lot of hysterics on the boards, pronouncing them as the end of days. In general, don't worry about it.

Morrowind is an expansion (or Chapter, as ZOS is calling it), so that's not free content, even if you subscribe. But, it is on the horizon.

Since no one else addressed the last part here.

Originally there was supposed to be a PvP component added to the Justice system at a later date. Players would be able to equip a tabard which would identify them as an "enforcer." This would then flag them for PvP as a team of player guards. Players who committed crimes, and had a heat level would be eligible for PvP as part of a criminal team. The goal was for open world PvP combat between these two groups. There were also supposed to be "bandit dens" which enforcers could enter and clear for additional stolen loot, which they could turn in as evidence, roughly how thieves fence goods now.

Issues apparently came up during internal testing, and the system was shelved indefinitely. It might come back at some point in the future, but if that's the case, no one's said anything.

Oh man! So many answers so soon!!!

First of all I wanted to thank all those who participated in this thread and had the good will to leave a comment (no matter what type). Especially the @AzraelKrieg, @LMar, @F7sus4, @starkerealm, there are no words to thank you enough for your clear answers and your time to write those to a new player such as myself.

Something like that would be super extra awesome indeed! I hope to not turn down this idea, as there is nothing like that in the MMO scene if my memory and my knowledge serves me right.

Thanks again guys! I really appreciate your help. At least now I am feeling one step closer to my learning curve.

No you can't. You can't put items into your bank until they are laundered.

I just wanted to emphasize this - in order to make this easier especially for the furnishings (which are not as easy recognizable as the unified icons for recipes you can learn) - you can identify them quickly at the fence by looking at the different tabs for your inventory. The chair will be for your furnishings and the potion for your recipes.

Nope, you cannot store them anywhere. The only place items labeled as stolen can be placed is your backpack. After that either launder or sell to a fence.

Also, through stealing you might get blueprints, plans, recipes in general or even furnishing items. Be careful not to just sell them to the fence :). Items labeled as Treasure = sell.

Yeah, this is actually a really important tip. When you're interacting with the fences, use the different categories to split your items up, and sell or launder by type. If you're on PC, I highly recommend the Advanced Filters addon. It gives you a lot more options to speed up inventory sorting.

For what it's worth, the system was originally envisioned when the game had a much more traditional MMO leveling structure. You had low level zones, intended for players from 1-16, one for high end players, 46-50, zones aimed at post 50 characters.

At that point, if you were playing as an enforcer, and fighting a level 4... they'd be hosed. Just utterly hosed. Now? That would be much less of an issue. So, if this is coming back, ZOS hasn't said anything. But the inherent power discrepancies, which could have lead to abuse, are now gone (mostly), so the current state of the game might take this much better than it would have back in 2015.

No you can't. You can't put items into your bank until they are laundered.

One other thing you may not know. Your "bank" is shared between all your characters. You can place items in the bank with one character, and withdraw on another. You can do the same with gold. So all you need to do is fence your stolen goods and deposit the gold in the bank if you want to give it to another character. There is no need to trade "stolen" goods between your characters..unless it's recipes or crafting plans..In that case, launder first, then you can put them in the bank.

Guys forgive me one more time for the total silly questions. I am looking for some clarifications to be sure:

A Crown Pack of 3.000 Crowns for the PS/XBOX, cannot be used in the PC? I mean they have different codes?

    Professions:
    - Which professions are better to start with?
    - Does it matter what class am I going to play much?
    - Can I have them all in one character after investing time OR are they as in WoW e.g. 2-3 professions max with each char?
    - Do I have to start as soon as possible OR it will be better to focus on crafting when I will be Level 50?

    Mounts
    - I begun the game with a brown horse of the Gold Edition. Does it have different abilities/skills from the one that costs 42.700 gold (if I am not mistaken) or it is the same?
    - Can I have more than 1 horse with each char?
    - Is there any purpose of having more than 1 mount?

    Thanks in advance once more.

You have a very good point there. A possible solution for that it would be the "tabard" of the enforcer or whatever uniform you will have to wear in order to become a sheriff of a town (it would be great to have a lore-quest for that and not a simple uniform etc.) it would give you the stats and the skills of the guards. That means if you are level 50 with end game gear/skills, you will use standard skills that the guards use and your mana/stamina/health it would be the same of the guards. In other words the enforcers will be "living talking" NPCs characters.

So, my Gold Edition Horse after the upgrades will be the same as the 42.700 gold? That sounds great way to save some more money on the long run...
