Nightblade Question - Is this possible ?

Mates,

Before I spend gold on respeccing I just want to check whether this is feasible on my stamblade.

Imagine two hostile mobs are nearby.

I CC one mob using Agony.

The second mob gets aggroed and is charging at me.

Just before the second mob reaches me can i do a cloak and surprise attack ?

Also if I spec "Master Assassin" passive (from Assassin Tree) will I get a stun of 8 seconds (2 x 4 sec from Surprise attack ) ?

gosh darn it...why can't I ever think of good questions like these :(

my whole nightblade philosophy seems to boil down to - when in doubt mass hysteria everything...

Cloak + concealed weapon is part of my basic combo so I don't know what the question is? If you mean if the enemy will be stunned then yes.

(As for the passive, I don't have it as I'm a low level crafter, but my guess is no. It works with sneak attacks, but cloak + concealed weapon isn't a sneak attack; the stun is the result of concealed weapon/surprise attack).

    Thanks mate.

I am pretty new to NB (even to ESO) and so far I have been either using Bow or full Magicka.

Never had the chance to try this stealth attack approach.

So what I mentioned ..it does work right ?

You don't get the bonus stun duration from surprise attack, it's the 'crouch ability' that will stun for 100% longer. So technically, (I'm pulling numbers from my butt) the stun will be only for 5-6secs. Do note also if you have poison on your weapon, it will pull the target out of stun.

    Gr8.

One more thing let us say I get only 4 sec stun from the intial attack.

If I cloak and execute Surprise Attack again will the mob be stunned for 4 more secs..

Or the CC effects have diminishing returns...instead of a fulll 4 sec stun..they can be stunned only for 2 secs during the second cloak+SA attack (in my prior experience with WoW they had diminishing returns)

Nothing like wow diminishing return. They'll just be immune for the timer duration. You can't stun again immediately for half of its duration. It wont let you. Ever. PVP and PVE both. Unless different effect. Eg. Fear, Disorient, Blind, Different TYPE of Stun etc.

Example: You use stun (any stun) on a character -> it wears off -> character is immune to STUN for X seconds, but you can still fear/blind/other -> After diminishing return timer expires you can stun again.

    Know what i mean?

Also, this does NOT apply to NPC -> PC interaction. NPCs can apparently stun you a milion times in a row. But you can't do the same to them.

I used to do that during a fight. Cloak and they'd sort of lose their target so didn't hit me then attack. No idea if that still works because I thought someone said mobs had true sight now so they can see hidden and invisible. But it was an okay method of keeping my health and attacking. Until I ran out of stamina.
