pre order? or quit the game??

not so sure what i should do.. zenimax keeping adding more and more weight on eso plus, almost as if they want to return the game model to monthly sub.

some very important game mechanic now locked behind eso plus membership. really make buy to play player felt second class. if i spend the money to buy an outfit, why on earth should i spend another $20 a month just to dye it??? if that is the case why should i even bother buying the outfit in the first place??

with crafting bad, double bank space, it really make me felt like eso plus is a must have to play this game. because crafting system is so important, and there are almost a thousand type of different type of crafting material...

The dlc definitely isn't cheap(80 cad), and i do like t buy the collector edition. but with one issue.. first the outfit from the pre order bonus cannot be dyed, since am not a eso plus member and never plan to be. Second a new class is coming and they wouldn't even give a single character along with the purchase of expansion???

i have played many games, but this kind of greed seem beyond measure.. so i actually have to spend real money to get the expansion, then spend another 18(cad) dollars to play the new class i just bought...

p.s. eso is a great game, the game play pull me to it while their greed push me further and further........ am really torn between pre order or quit the game for good..

still not worth the sub and still not worth even purchasing, nevermind the preorder.
why would i pay for the "chapter" and/or sub with the *** changes theyve been making.

There's no need to sub, you can play just fine without it.
And I'd suggest you don't pre order, wait to see how the base game plays after the update. If you're unhappy after that then quit.
I don't spend with ZOS anymore but I can still play the game.

So many streamers are quitting. A lot of my friends are saying goodbye and moving on to other games where the developers actually understand the playerbase.

We have tried to explain the issues to ZOS over and over again. I can type post after post. But they just don't seem to understand.

This is only a question you yourself can answer. You need to ask yourself how much you really love and support this game. I preordered despite all the chicken littles claiming the sky is falling. I will adapt and move on with all the changes because I know that all MMO's go through change.

It all is a personal choice.

As for the ESO+ perks, Zos has a valid interest in making sub more attractive, regular influx of revenue which is why MMOs exist. But it is not required. Another area that is a personal choice.

Of course one does not have to spend any money with Zos after buying the game as long as one is content with the existing content and is not much into PvP or group PvE since the newer and more challenging content is in DLCs and the new trial and BGs are in the expansion.

It can be a tough choice but we cannot advise you on how you should spend your hard earned money.

It does not matter how many posts you type. What matters is what those posts contain.
You just don't have it in you to explain it to ZOS the way that they understand.

OP I am not sure you can really get a great answer on this as it's going to be down to your feelings.

For me I am not 100% happy with ZOS' direction, some of the changes are going to hurt me a lot, but at the same time I love and enjoy the game and want to consume more of it. So I continued with my pre-order.

As others have said if you don't want the pro-order items then don't pre-order and just pick it up when it goes cheap in a few months. I would imagine the initial repose will be negative because well we've never been positive about stuff on these forums.

If you enjoy overland questing and story, you should get it. If you just do Cyrodiil PvP there is no need, if you want battlegrounds then you might as well buy it, if you want a new trial you might as well buy it.

So it's another one of those... "I bought the game, why can't I have everything else added in the future for FREE" sense of entitlement threads.

First off, it sounds like the OP has no interest in helping to fund the continuation of the game... buying a DLC here in there is not a source of continuous revenue that any MMO needs to maintain itself. OP, you complain about not being able to dye a costume, yet they offer dye packs in the Crown Store. Further, we spent YEARS not being able to dye costumes, it's not a game breaker but an annoyance. It's also interesting how you claim that the small tokens ZOS has added to ESO+ is making it return to a 'subscription only' game... when in reality we only have, costume dyeing and soon extra bank space, besides the other small perks that none of which is required to play the game... they're all QOL additions.

Expect that ZOS will continue to add more incentive to subscriptions, if this bothers you and you absolutely refuse to subscribe, then perhaps it is time for you to walk away.

I would suggest to never pre order anything. (unless the pre order purchase is way cheaper than what the final product will be).

I will wait for Morrowind to go on a sale before buying it because it isn't worth the full price.

For me, there is no such question. The game gave me so many emotions that are worth much more than all the money spent on it. I can be considered fanboy, but I also like the way of development of the game.
I do not cry on the forum every time when my characters are weakened. I adapt to all changes. And meanwhile the game only gets better with each patch. I hope the developers will continue to be very careful to listen to criticism of their patches :)

It's part of the social media epidemic, where everyone now thinks that just because they have the ability to broadcast every thought, feeling, fart, burp, butt scratch, they should. This forum still isn't anywhere near as entitled and wailing as the WoW forum, though. Head over there if you really want to have your mind blown.

Sounds like you're on the fence. Stay with the game for now but don't get MW until you see how it works out - and give it some time to settle down. Then carefully decide whether to buy MW or leave the game.

In my case it's easy. I never buy anything until it is out, running and the initial shine has worn off. That way there is enough guides and such out so I know exactly what I'm getting. I've always been that way and, as a result, avoided all the drama of ESO's rocky debut.

if there are enough people willing to pay sub for this game, they wouldn't switch to b2p model in the first place. by encourage sub model too much will just push away a percentage of b2p player.

i have spend a few hundred dollars on this game, and thinking about pre order their expansion... but i guess that doesn't count as helping to fund the continuation of the game..

p.s. there are tons of b2p game and f2p game, such as gw2, secret world, black desert online.. and there will be many more coming. (before you ask, yes i play them all XD)

Do whatever you feel is necessary. If you are finding that you are not enjoying playing the game anymore, then quit.
If even after the next patch you still enjoy spending time playing, maybe you should stay.
As for the sub, its seems to be becoming less about the content being delivered, and more about char necessities like bank, home and bag space. I have cancelled my sub for at least the next 3 months to offset the cost of the DLC when it is released.

So... this is greedier than the games which don't sell items, but only allow you to rent them? (Pretty much every game from Nexon?)

This is greedier than games that require you to either cough up cash to level up (STO)?

Trust me, if this was Cryptic running the game, there'd be 12 new classes, each more brokenly powerful than the last, all of them in the crown crate system, with a worse payout rate than the mounts. Which could be bought and sold for gold (which sounds great, until you watch them completely inflate the economy to the point where you need to buy stuff from the store to sell in order to have enough gold to buy anything remotely useful.

And you'd still need to buy character slots for the new classes you unlocked.

I understand being upset, but, hyperbole like this just undermines the entire argument.

    NEVER PRE-ORDER.

You will inevitably get burned. Just wait. The game isn't going anywhere. Play for a bit after the changes hit. If you still like things, then go ahead and get it if you're interested in the new story/quests/dungeons/etc.

If it turns out you hate the new changes or have zero interest in the new material, then you've saved yourself some money.

I made the mistake of pre-ordering exactly once. Learn from your elders. :)
