Magicka DK weak Flame Lash?

So I'm playing Magicka DW DK using primarily class skills, where Flame Lash is my single target DPS. However, I'm playing with a Templar, which just crush the mobs with few hits, while my Flame Lash takes like 8-12% of their hp. Is Flame Lash just this weak?
