Can't accept Undaunted Pledge

Just went to pick up pledges on one of my alts. Turns out I deleted the invitation to the Undaunted Enclave. I'm level 50 and Daggerfall Covenant and I am at the Stormhaven - Wayrest outpost. I don't have any pledge quests in my quest journal. I asked Glirion the Redbeard and he told me to talk to Maj al-Ragath. She asked if I wanted to do a pledge, but my only dialogue option was, "Goodbye."

Any idea how to fix this?

In all of my prior experience, an e-mail invitation to the Undaunted Enclave is not required. One of my characters who has accepted and succeeded in many Undaunted dungeon pledge quests, but none during the past few months, has received the invitation. So far, I don't know whether responding with it in the character's bags will confer any benefit (or result in any problems).

However, before seeking to receive their first Undaunted quest, a character should be invited to "join the Undaunted" by NPC members who are near the quest-givers. They are usually a group of three or four NPCs that are "drinking buddies", and at least one of those NPCs will ask the PC to pay for a round of drinks. ... If memory serves, a PC who declines to do that will still be invited to join the Undaunted. Note also that the PC can find a similar group of Undaunted NPC members sharing drinks at many taverns. Each such tavern is usually located in the principal market town -- one with multiple Guild Traders -- of each zone of Tamriel, including Hollow City (Cold Harbor), but with the exception of Cyrodill.

The eventual outcome of dialogue with the NPC members should be a quest to go to the Undaunted site near the capital city of the Alliance with which the PC is aligned (at the time the PC was created). When a PC who has that quest asks Maj Al Ragath at the site for an Undaunted dungeon quest, the PC will be recognized as a new member of the Undaunted, and granted their first quest. After that quest is completed and the reward is claimed, the PC can obtain further quests from Maj Al Ragath, also from Glirion the Redbeard, and also from another NPC who grants Undaunted quests for dungeons that Glirion the Redbeard doesn't offer.

If that doesn't work, or I've overlooked something or made some other error, then please let me know.

EDIT: although I haven't tried it yet, when a player's character has the e-mail invitation to join the Undaunted in their bags, it might not be necessary for that character to "join the Undaunted" in the traditional way that I have described above. The PC might simply be recognized as a new member by Maj Al Ragath at the appropriate Undaunted site.
