Any way to simulate grass in housing?

Is there any way to simulate grass or low ground cover in Housing? Specifically, I'd like to cover a fairly large dry-mud barren spot on the island and need something that will cover it without having to use many small low plants. Thanks for any help the community provides.

Maybe try sticking a hedge low into the ground?

Edit: Or maybe a few shrubs, but I don't know how many you want to use:
