ESO subber who needs help "removing" a skill tree.

For the life of me, I have no recollection of ever going to the Gold Coast to pick up a quest for the DB.

Now, every time I crouch and try to pickpocket, the idiotic, annoying, no-way-to-turn-it-off sound of the "Blade of Woe" and help tips constantly appear onscreen.

Is there a way to remove this? I have no intention of completing the DB line.

I'm not sure if these is a way to remove this, but you only obtain it by completing the first quest in the dark brotherhood. So you must have started it at one point :P

Yeah, the quest is in my logbook and it's been there since I've returned to the game, but I literally have no memory of going to the Gold Coast (but I've been there).

Since I've returned, that BoW has been freaking annoying and removing the quest didn't remove it. I can't "remove" the DLC since I'm a subber, so I was hoping there was another option.

You should have thought about that before you murdered an innocent fisherman on the gold coast trying to feed his family

I can't kill innocents. That's an option I have turned on in the game. Been burned by that on a previous character.

You dont go to Gold Coast to get it. You talk to a chick who appears in EVERY Thieves Outpost until you finally take her quest.
Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

Hmmm. Xbox can't mod it out like on PC.

Can you change keybindings on console? If so maybe just remove that keybinding?

If not, then can't really do anything I guess.

Tutorial help can be switched off though - it is somewhere in the settings, but I do not know by heart where exactly.

Indeed. I'm getting the feeling I'm stuck with this. Thankfully, it's only with one character, but I'm hoping there's an option in a future update to allow us to disable the request.

I thought you only get the actual blade of woe skill by talking to the creepy dude in the tower near anvil?

Don't skip dialog! XD, seriously I am sure it didn't just appear one day. I go to the gold coast constantly with various toons, never got this.

As far as I recall, the ONLY way to get BoW is by killing an innocent in Anvil and then meeting with the guy in the tower and accepting the 'gift' which is the BoW. If you've received it without completing this quest then it's a serious bug that needs to be reported.

Meanwhile, I wish you didn't get the Thieves Guild skill line just by entering Abah's Landing. You should at least have to start the TG questline.

Not only that, but you also get the line if you even touch a TG chest in open world. How many new players come across these things for the first time and think, "What is this?" and the moment they touch it, BOOM, TG skill line added.

There is an addon on ESOUI that should disable blade of woe for you. Maybe there are other mods like this, I know this one esoui.com/downloads/info1386-InnocentBladeofWoeandVampireFeed.html

TBH new players probably won't care until way later, in fact many people direct new players to stealing and murdering for fast easy money and I never seen one say no thanks. They'd probably be more like Ohh new skill tree line, awesome!

Which is perfectly fine, from both an RP and a "realism" point of view - there's no rational reason why (without the TG DLC/skill line) that you mystically can't open a box. And all the TG line/touching a box gives you is exactly that - the ability to open a box. Your character's morality & choices determine that he doesn't take anything from that box, or be a thief (i.e, add skill points to the TG skill line).

Every good person has the ability to be a thief. It's their choices that make them not be one.

(I mean, heck - you can pick the lock on a treasure chest, "steal" owned goods, and fence items in an Outlaws Den without the TG skill line, so clearly the skill line itself doesn't make you a thief or not.)

The presence of the TG skill line on your character is the game's indicator of your membership in the Thieves Guild. You shouldn't magically join the Thieves Guild just by entering a city. You also shouldn't magically join the Thieves Guild just by opening a random box, particularly since you aren't even supposed to be able to open the boxes unless you are a member.

What is needed are toggle settings for pickpocket and blade of woe and vamp feeding.

It is bothersome to have to maneuver around to make the desired synergy appear. I'd like to turn off feeding and sometimes pickpocketing.

I think I need to clarify something.

I know the quest was started by me. It's not like the game did it automatically. After all, the second quest is in my journal, not the first.

I just have no memory of starting it, killing someone, or visiting the Gold Coast. Getting old and playing Fallout 4, yeah, I'll blame those.

I just want to know if there's a way to remove the option to use the BoW, is all. (Note: looks like for us console players, the answer is no).

    Hope this helps.

But you did kill an innocent. It's required to complete the quest you completed (but don't remember) that grants the skill line.

There is no way to remove the skill line.

I going to agree with above posts. If you have blade of woe you have murdered an innocent and completed the DB quest. You would have to reroll at this point to get rid of it.
