Damage reduction? Or Damage resistance?

Im trying to figure out how to make my MagSorc as "tanky" as i can, and im stuck at allocating my CP into either Elemental Defender, or Light Armor focus to get my Physical Resist up. I max out Hardy by default so thats not an issue. But whats more suitable, reducing damage done to me, or increasing Resistance?

Damage reduction by far. It's so unbalanced there is almost no situation where ed/hardy isn't your best bet hence the incoming cp redistribution.

not to mention that dmg reduction reduces the damage your shields take - resistances don't.

Are you wearing 2 Heavy and 5 LIght? That helps. Plus it opens up a couple of Heavy Armor Magic sets like Rattlecage for use.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

For tanking on live with CP called out 28 points into the slot that diminishes dots and split the rest between elemental defender and hardy. Don't put anything into spell shield of heavy armor.

Your resist from a minimum of 5 PC heavy will be enough.

    Remember, 660 armor/spell resist = 1% damage reduction.

This thread's eternal rest has been disturbed. It has been revived to roam the forum once again as a zombie. Someone put it out of it's misery.

Your Mitigation against damage types, and reducing the enemies damage, along with your general resistances against their penetration all add up in the damage equation. It all depends on what type of attack you are being hit with.

It depends. Basicly deduct 20k from your buffed resists in CP land, if there’s a number left over then adding some resists can be good if it can be added efficiently.

If not damage reduction is better.

Resist stacking can be negated by onslaught so if you go resists you have to be prepared to kite the onslaught buff with dodge rolls, streak, mist or block. Otherwise anything you devote to it can be easily countered.

It’s all about what can be added efficiently so trying to stack one stat is never a good idea.

Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

In my opinion it's usually not worth it to completely max out any given node (aka putting a 100 points in it) because that last percentage or two gets quite expensive in terms of points needed and so it can usually be more beneficial to put them in something else
