Help a Nightblade with a VMA question

Ok, my buddy is really trying to beat VMA before this patch hits for Morrowind.

He is at 398 CP as a Stam NB. He doesn't to do MagBlade because in his idea of a rogue character (roleplaying I guess) they don't use Magicka and doesn't want to change his stats and build for Magicka.

He's made it all the way to the final boss in Rd 9.

He can't sustain enough to get past the first part. He's gotten up top a couple times but says he's just running out of Stam so fast that he's dying cause he just can't do his rotations while also trying to survive.

Is the CP just not enough for a Stam user trying to do Vet VMA?

He's running everything the top streamers and meta builds say for VMA. Has all the armor and skills that should be used.

Did any of you all beat VMA as a Stamblade at that CP level and if so are there any tips I can give him cause it's gotten to the point he's just not enjoying the game because he made it there and for the last 2 weeks just can't finish the last boss even though he knows the mechanics.

As a Sorc I beat it at 300cp but we have shields and better self heals through power surge and the like.

If a stamblade is having sustain issues then it's him not the class, see console player that got a 601K score on a stamblade.

I first did it over a year ago using 2H maul and no 1 tamriel proc sets.

All he needs to do is Nuke the boss at 1st spawn to avoid the crem guard, any decent stamina toon can do this easily.

But I guess the question is, does he even have a heal like vigor? and Is he using Siphoning attacks?

If he is running out of stam he is probably dodging way more than he should or spamming vigor over and over. depends what phase he is stuck at.

So having less than 400cp isn't an issue because I don't see how it's possible to burn the boss without the ads spawning in.

I don't know cause I don't play Stam or NB - I am just asking cause he never does forums and I'm at a loss in helping him other than recommending Alcast or Gilliam videos but they're running at max cp.

Oh and yeah he has to use vigor. He's says it's not enough.

Use power sigil on first spawn and defense sigil when you come down, any sigil will help really but those are the best. If he has a top build used by streamers and isn't burning the boss at the start then his rotation is questionable. Vigor is most definitively enough because it's what I use on stam NB if I ever go in with him(and many others).

Trap down/endless hail down prior to start of the boss(buffs all up obviously). Heavy attack into poison injection and swap/ultimate put any remainder of dots up and spam mode(anything along those lines really), remember to dodge roll the skulls every-time and keep vigor up. If he can't dps through that and crem guard comes tell him that he can dot him up and simply circle around him and he won't take any damage from the fire most of the time. Nuke everything and never hold onto ultimate's unless it's easy mode without. Good luck. My setup for VMA was 5nmg/5vo/2veli/maelstrom bow.

I use the bow ult and it makes burning the boss to 70% a walk in the park. I'm no pro vMA runner either. Bow ulti ftw... seriously.

As far as running out of resources, I'd recommend he record his runs and look at them later. If he's using VO then he's clearly spamming skills unnecessarily. If he has to he should run Siphon Strikes, but that seems like overkill to me.

A friend told me she burns pass bosses with the ultimate, never really listened buttt i'll second you and say that it is probably the best choice in this instance. You're talking about the target morph right? Not the Toxic Barrage? @Danksta

Correct, Ballista is the morph you'd be looking for. I used to use DB because you think it'd outperform Ballista on daedra, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Can you empower ballistia with vMA dw weapons do you know?

It's not fair to compare Supernatural, the absolute freak's runs to a 400Cp players but I know what you're saying.

People completed this weeks after it's release with (iirc) 300CP at the time? Missing nearly all of today's BiS gear (VO, etc) so DRX is right, it's not the class.

This ^ with a bow ult you should be at 70%. If you understand how ghosts work and get more familiar with the arena then you can actually get a lot more out of it - See http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/Supernatural/video/28044587 (Other clips are old and I'm not sure if a 100% nuke is still possible from the start)


Your friend just needs to watch a few more videos, make sure CP is setup right (A few of the top MSA runners on youtube let you know their CP setups) and keep at it.

I'm not sure to be honest, but it would be easy to check. Just check your tooltip on it, then do a Rapid Strikes on a random mob and check the tooltip again. I don't use vMA daggers in vMA and I don't use Ballista in trials, but if it does get empowered maybe I should.

Yes sir, I've finished it for 10 people over the last week via shareplay around that CP with 5 seconds of delay it was a nightmare!! (PS: shareplay is fine to do)

Right moving on.

Bar setup like this you won't have issues promise:

Surprise attack / Blood Craze / 8% bezerk / Blade Cloak / Rearming Trap / REND
Poison Injection / Endless Hail / Mirage / Caltrops / Vigor / (whatever ulti)

Use 5000/487 food it's a must without VO plus if I can do with with agility and 23k Stam anyone can (within reason)

The regen food will make it a joke watch.

When going up ensure blade cloak is up, endless, trap, hail few surprise attacks and move on remember to watch boss.

Skull/wall/wall/skull/skull/wall/wall etc.

At crystal 2 I'd always suggest using REND at this point to get your 16 second heal + vigor to make your healing a tad easier with the dot you get while dpsing crystals.

Thanks - I'll definitely let him know. He's been looking at this thread and has now gotten to where he can get up top fairly consistently now which was not the case before.

Just a heads up to all those who helped my buddy.

He was able to finally beat it this weekend thanks to the feedback on the forum and he says thanks.

Also ....... he got a Sharpened Bow. Lol - first drop.
