Thinking about returning

So I left just before Veteran 16 was a thing and any of the DLC's were available.

I'm thinking of coming back ~ currently re-downloading the game ~ just wondering if it is worth it to only play casual for now?

Has the game changed for the better? Kinda want to explore the DLC but that mean's I would have to buy all the new areas which may be a problem if I want to progress...

Are the new areas worth the money to buy and explore?

If you only want to play casual - this game is always worth coming back. Get like one or two months ESO Plus and enjoy the DLCs. Or try to do all quests and achievements of the base game. You'll find a lot of amazing stories. ;)

There's some pretty great DLCs out there:

    - I think everyone's favorite would be Wrothgar/Orsinium, which adds an entire new PvE zone and has a really great story
    - Thieves Guild is also nice: memorable story, really great characters, powerful crafted sets and a new Trial

    Just some top picks ;)

I agree with Mady. Get a short amount of ESO+, and test the waters. If you decide to keep playing, you can keep the ESO+ going or get Morrowind when it releases.

On the flip side, if you decide ESO+ isn't for you but you still want to play the DLC, you can put the crowns you get from your sub towards the Guilds and Glory 4-pack. :)

Welcome back to the game! I hope you decide to stick around for a while.

oh yes, so poor classes, they've been suffering for so long.....
    ....
Have you tried sNB btw? For 3 years, for example?

Not to OP: as someone said above - if you're casual player (questing, easy dungeons, exloration, roleplaying, housing and etc) then yes. This game still open for you. Regarding DLC, in my opinion, Orsinium is #1 you need to buy. TG was also interesting for me + new trial zone, maybe you could try it in normal mode. DB (again, for me) was absolutely boring. Small location, boring quests and nothing more. SoH will give only two dungeons (this DLC was made to make money from players) - the most difficult dungeons in the game. Some king of a pledge who tired of repeating classical dungeons again and again. Housing is free, so just use it. But prepare your cash and A LOT of time to get all you need (ingredients and recipes).

If you're going into end-game, veteran trials, learning ingame mechanics, using proper rotations, doing hardmodes and so on, I'd say - no. Now, 3 years later I can say this part of a game is not totally worth it. Moreover, it's absolutely broken. Both in PvP and PvE. But if you're mostly casual player, don't even bother with such things and enjoy with what you want.

P.S. Oh, yes, forgot to add. Prepare your credit card. Crown Store is waiting.

From my experience since Beta, completeing vTrials and some of them with HM (not all unfortunately, such as vMA) I'd say (and not only me) that stamblade is the worst choice for PvE. Magblade is a bit better, especially in vMA.
But again: for casual playing it doesn't matter at all. All classes are pretty equal there. You'll see the difference in vet trials. And the difference will be huge.

Just an example. I had 50k on vAA HM on Mage (it's mixed dps, mostly single target, but because of Endless Hail and Caltrops part of it is AoE). Not the highest one (while some players can do more that 50k on the boss), but still. mSors do there ~65k. Stamblade is not even close to any other stamina class. Not sure about Morrowind, but right now we have what we have. And don't think that suddenly everything will become perfect. No. I had a hope for 3 years and got nothing. Nothing as player, customer, call me as you wish. And that's the reason I left ESO until "good times". Because stamblade is the only character I have. Yes, I have mSorc, but I can't and don't like to play with him. All my progression, achievements, quests, EVERYTHING is on stamblade. Which is nerfed even under the ground.

So, for end-game I'd recommend using Sorc. Wrobel as I heard is playing with Sorc, so this class will be okay for the end of times, both in stamina and magicka builds.

Someone explain to me, the appeal of Orsinium. I only picked up the 4 pack DLC because right after I bought the Imperial edition, they released the full game and expansions, for less than what I paid. Used crowns to buy the 4 pack but honestly, Orsinium feel like more quest grind.

Overall it's become a better game since then... though can't farm wax in the rift anymore...

Quests are the best part of Orsinium.
But as you said, "quest grind", is the whole game. If you just grinding quests without reading them, what I can add... Basically you don't need any content then, like dialogs with voice, lore and history. The beauty of Orsinium DLC is in quests. And in Maelstrom Arena... Oh, my, who am I kidding..... Arena is the biggest pain in the game.

So, talking about content, Orsinium is: 2 public dungeons, quests, dailies (killing world bosses), Maelstrom Arena (let's see how will you grind this!) aaaaand... hm. Well... Pretty nice location for farming mats, I'd say.

For me Orsinium is totally worth. And I can't say the same about SoH (which I just ignored).
