Birds?

I'd love some bird pets; there's already some great models in the game. Would really like a vulture; my favourite by far.

A bird-like mount would be great too (not a flying bird of course).

I didn't say it was a silly idea but I have to admit, it makes me giggle when I picture a bunch of people riding around on ostriches........yet, cool at the same time.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

PakKat "Everything was going well, until I died"
Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

I suppose... but apart from horses/camels... a bunch of people riding any other animal looks kinda funny as well. XD

I want a chicken or an owl, but particularly a chicken. I need chickens walking around my house's yard.

    Chickens! Yes, definitely!
And for something to drag along all around the world, a crow please. Or a raven. I'm not a difficult woman... ;)

I could go for a Raven. Genuinely super smart birds. Owls are infamous for being some of the stupidest and messiest avians in the world, so it's bizarre that they're so often synonymous with "wisdom". An owl on your shoulder would just crap all over your shiny armour, cough up pellets in your face, and ignore all your commands

I work as an ecologist and once had a client request an owl box be placed above his family's front porch (he had barn owls nesting in his garden). I tried explaining why that would be a bad idea, but he insisted. One month later and I was begged back to remove it

What what what. I literally know nothing about owls but what fantasy genre tells me. Please elaborate !!!

Good suggestions from all. An owl would be great as well... even if they're not smart. :D

But yeah, really want a vulture. Misunderstood birds that are incredibly important.

Not really much to elaborate on  While we're all told by popular culture to assume owls are some of the smartest birds in the world, they're actually incredibly stupid by bird standards. Corvids (ravens, crows, rooks, etc) are the smartest and the easiest to train (there's a good reason they make for popular messenger birds in fantasy like Game of Thrones), but owls are insanely messy and very difficult to train. They only associate their trainer/owner with food, so will only hang around if they're hungry. Letting it loose when it isn't hungry means there's a very high risk it'll just fly away and never return.

Their messiness comes from both ends. They crap whenever they want, and they always want to thanks to their super fast digestive system. And they cough up pellets of anything undigested (think a cat with furballs, but instead of fur it's bones and guts of small animals). So when that client of mine asked for a barn owl box above his front door he really didn't understand what he was getting himself into!

    Give them time.

I expect eventually they will make birdy pets as well. I mean, we do already have a sep adder, which is halfway there, right?

I expect they may be thinking about avie interaction... after all, a doggie pet is easy, as it just runs besides your avie, but a raven pet for example might be expected to perch on your shoulder every now and then, so that means new code...

Halfway where? It flies behind you and lands when you stop.
There ARE birds already. The Sep Adder leaps up and eats them.

The dragon frogs fly. They hover in mid-air while they roast insects.

I got suspenders for saying "Testicular Mass" instead of "Balls". like, rilly.
