Dodge chance, how does it work?

During two separate battles today (one duel and during PvP), the combat text was showing what seemed to easily have been half of my attacks as dodged. There wasn't any active effects to show that they were running Evasion from the medium armor skill line or Blur from the NB skill line. It didn't seem like Hist Bark either as they were not blocking. Neither of them were roll dodging either, although both players were hopping around like rabbits. Jumping doesn't increase dodge chance does it? Are there other sets that increase dodge chance that I may be over looking?

    Could be Blessed Armor?

If you mean Meridia's maybe, but doesn't the combat text show "miss" instead of "dodge" in that case?

*There is one other set I just found as possibility... Spectre's Eye.

Haven't seen "Miss" combat text ever, but then again not many people use that armor anyway. It just you said they dodged half your attacks, that would be very very very unlucky and improbable situation with simple Major Evasion (15% dodge chance). Obviously then there are mechanics bugs, animation bugs, cheats, ...

Also could have been some super lucky Glorious Defender proc (or bug)

Any set that procs evasion will show the animation for evasion. Typically a greyish ghost glow around you.

Spectres Eye does show an animation when it procs. It also has a nice size window to get attacks in so you should be having no problems hitting they that one.

Nobody used meridian's blessing after seeing on the pts it had a global cooldown (meaning it only worked on one target lol). So idk what the animation is.

Could be that hist bark bug is back again.

It work like this. If the person you are fighting has dodge chance active he will dodge all your attacks. If you have it active you won't dodge anything

There are multiple dodges in this game.

    Dodge Roll
    Innate Dodge
    Evasion Dodge

Dodge chance from Evasion opens a "Dodge window". 100% chance to dodge any available moves for the duration of the "window". Typically .5-1 secs of unlimited dodge. This can also "stack" with the base "dodge" that all characters have.

Also crusader set increases the dodge roll window .3 secs.

I do believe the innate dodge chance was increased anywhere from .5 - 2% somewhere between thieves and dark brotherhood. My magic characters without shuffle dodge thing occasionally. Like 1 per 1000 attacks.

This is only from extended playtime. Don't have combat addons because I'm console. So this might not be 100%

Try using shuffle and aggroing huge pack of mobs I can guarantee you that if shuffle procs on some attack you will get hit by all the other attacks that even arrive at same time or slightly later

This basic test and lack of any proof in last 2 years reading about this "dodge window" just keep me believing there is no window

Wonder if dodge chance is a server side calculation or clientside. Either way, buy crowns kids
