Can I apply a heavy armor motif to medium armor?

Title; basically I'm a Nightblade but sadly, a good majority of medium armor looks downright stupid in my opinion. I was wondering if it was possible to put a heavy armor motif on medium armor pieces because a lot of the heavy armor looks way cooler. The heavy Outlaw Motifs look so sweet.

Only option is a 'heavy' looking costume

Usually when I craft armor, I go the 5/1/1 route, 2 monster pieces then for the 5 armor pieces I craft I do 1 in heavy (usually the chest for the look).

You can always do 1 piece heavy for the Undaunted passive, pick your fav style and do 1 piece heavy.

Oh wow thanks. The heavy chests do seem to be the most aesthetically pleasing. Although is it viable for a NB to use a heavy chest?

    It's perfectly viable.

The 5/1/1 is 5 pieces your main armor (so medium) then 1 piece light, 1 piece heavy for the Undaunted passive. 6% (pretty sure its 6 at rank 9) more resources.

If you do struggle though 7 medium is always an option.

It affects your ability to sneak, but you trade that for increased armor. As someone pointed out, the last undaunted passive gives you a 1%/2% increase to your stamina, magicka, and health, for each armor type you're wearing. Which is why you'll see players going the 5/1/1 route. They get more resources for a small hit to effectiveness.

That said, if you want pure stamina, you could always check out the ebony motif. It's medium armor is shockingly heavy looking.
