All I've seen on the forums lately is people dreading upcoming morrowind class changes, and I'm just not understanding why. All this about buffed sorcs and nerfed everything else.

I read the patch notes and the only nerd I can really see is the replacement of magician and warlord. So I'm just asking for someone to enlighten me as to what exactly is going on with the nerds.

Typical pre-patch drama fueled by min/maxers. This one has seen it before... Sit down comfortably, get popcorn and enjoy the show.

    1. cost reduction cp is removed.
    2. mag/stam regen cp is nerfed.
    3. all stam cost will have increased cost.
    4. currently unpopular set that could help with regen (bone pirate set) is preemptively nerfed by 50%.
    5. templar skill repentence can no longer restore stamina for allies.
    6. templar skill spear shard (synergy for allies to restore mag/stam) will share cooldown time with another resource restoring synergy (necrotic orb)
    7. all skills and passive that restore mag/stam based on maximum mag/stam will be changed to scale on character level, resulting in a significant nerf.

Class skills that were once unique were mega nerfed or downright gutted. Sustain nerf hit the other classes way harder than Sorc. DK passive are based on character level... Templar resource skills are based on other skills in game and healing was gutted... I'm going to visit the mass grave of NB hopes next week. While the Sorc has a skill that in the resource starved Morrowind returns 5 k of a resource plus massive heals. That's why people are a bit peaved

Warhammer is one of the lowest rung of nerdom, when I worked at EB games they were the only staff in the mall we looked down upon.

This. So much this. I think there are a lot of people who go to the forums and see a bunch of angry posts, and so they say "Oh, people are angry, well then I'm gonna get angry too gosh darn it!
ZOS must have broken something again!!!!!"

Unless there is a significant decrease in Boss hp, I expect that tanks and healers will become even more rare for the LFG PUG extravaganza.

No doubt, that I will stop healing and tanking. Not interested in protracted normal and vet run with pugs who atm far too often can't complete in a timely fashion or fail.

Pugs for the most part can't complete WGT and ICP. It may become far worse after the patch.

Nah... people who actually READ and UNDERSTAND the implications of the MANY and VARIOUS nerfs will understand that this is fundamentally changing the way combat, builds and character development will be done from now on.

Basically, think of the game you're used to playing... and now think of something completely different... and that's what you're getting with the new patch.

This patch is like the other major balance change patches in that there is tons of furor based off limited info and little playyest especially early on before pts results, tweaks and adjustments have been done.

At this point several passives ago the rage was about how the 2h ultimate would break the game and the destro staff ultimate was useless never be used which turned out to be so far from the truth its laughable.

So take these with a grain of salt especially any comments here about the warden because any warden play is still locked under NDA and so those who know what the warden is doing even now in playtest cannot comment fully. Some of the threads posted here about "how the warden works" are flat out wrong on the specific details they imagined but they dont let that stop their misplaced rage posts.

What is happening with Morrowind Expansion is a significant change is being made to the game.

Right now in the vast majority of the cases in game play the best option at many many different levels is to outfit, slot, gear build for max damage. There is little reason for sustain to be something worth bothering with.

    **it was not always so**

In prior balance points of the game sets like magnus and seducers (5pc bonus is all about lowering costs of abilities not boosting damage) and glyphs of cost reduction and so on saw frequent use because your ability to go for max damage levels and not have to worry with sustain was not possible. Now be clear, at that time it was not the case where almost all the builds used sustain sets or focused on sustain - it was more a balance between the two.

This changed at various points and we got to where we are now where damage is the top dog.

The morrowind rebalancing is putting that back to a level where you can choose to go for top damage exclusively (and have a big hit for a short period of time) or go for max-sustain (and have smaller hits over longer time) and tons of spaces in between for builds that work. You also have tons of ways to trade-off between those to get to the balance point you want (within whats possible) so if you dont like hvy attack rotations you use more sustain sets and glyphs or if you like havy attacks fine you use more damage sets and glyphs and so on and so forth.

part of the comprehensive aspect of the change is also some moves to make maxstat stacking less beneficial so some abilities - particularly some tied to sustain - are being changed away from scaling higher with maxstat to scaling with level.

this change is bigger than your average patch - even a balancing patch - and some folks dont like the changes in specific.

There are a lot of different analyses around of different aspects and such, some solid, some not... but no matter what they are all at this monent very early in the playtest process.

Dont get me wrong - the major direction change is going to happen - no way i can see pts making them drop the idea of the sustain vs dam changes - but a lot os the specifics will be tweaked and some already have.

Right now i consider most of the rage analysis in the public forums to be about as accurate as the 2h ulti and destro ulti analysis were at the same point in the process.
