Nirnhoned Trait question.

So I looked up on how to obtain the Nirnhoned trait and it said you had to do the main quest line for Craglorn and it was also possible to find them on bosses in upper Craglorn.. But me and my clan have been doing the Main quest line, (As far as we know it's the main by what the articles say..) and have yet to find the Nirnhoned trait. Just been getting Enchanting item's. Just curious what are we doing wrong? And any pointer's on how to obtain the Nirnhoned trait, without having to pay an arm and leg to get the trait from Guild Traders? Please and thank you!

You get the nirnhoned item in a coffer at the end of the full upper Craglorn questline though you will need to complete some lower Craglorn quests as a prerequisite.

Ahh so you have to do a little of both. Lol Do they ever come off of just random Big bosses? (Like the Crossbones) Or just main quest line? Also one other question...Do you get all the traits from the quest line as you go, or it's just random what you get at the end of the full quest line, and having to ask around to get the other Nirnhoned traits? (If that makes sense, lol)

Random one at the end unfortunately and I've never seen any nirnhoned items drop off any bosses, dungeon or otherwise, in any part of Craglorn.

Maybe so but one of the best crafted sets requires you to know all 9 traits

As you're already running around craglorn for the quest you're hopefully gathering resource nodes and getting a few nirncrux out of them..!?

So the best way to get nirnhoned stuff for research would be to take these nirncrux and look for a crafter in zone chat.
    And don't forget to tip him/her.. ;)

The easiest and quickest way to get the nirnhoned trait without running trials or quests, is to actually farm for Nirncrux in Craglorn in Craglorn and have someone craft you a lvl1 piece of your choice which you can then research, it drops all over Craglorn these days, but in my opinion the upper western area around Shadas Tear wayshrine is best.

It drops from nodes and some animals, the best way to think of where to find it is that if a material from a node can be refined on a crafting table, ie: Blacksmithing, Clothing and Woodworking then it will drop Nirncrux, so basically you need to be harvesting Wood, Blackmithing materials and Leather,

Heres where you will find it:
    1. Animals (Welwa, Dunerippers).. rarely
    2. Blacksmithing nodes
    3. Woodworking nodes
    4. Clothing nodes

Heres where you wont find it:
    1. Water nodes
    2. Alchemy nodes
    3. Wasps, wasp nests
    4. Scorpions
    5. Humanoid npc's

Nirncrux is not rare, (most guild stores sell it and sell it quite cheaply), the only problem is that its RNG, and drop rates are around 1 - 2%, For example i found seven within my first ever hour nirncrux farming, then i had a six hour spell where i found none..

You do not need to have finished main storyline, Coldharbour questline or Craglorn questline to get the nirnhoned trait, you can just buy it or farm it and have a guildy who already has the traits craft a low value armour/weapon which you can then use for your own research piece. You can have a level 3 character researching/farming nirn. Having someone craft it for you is by far the most popular way, I have never known it drop from an overland boss and i've killed hundreds in Craglorn.

Wow! You all are great!! Thank you all for helping me out! Me and my crew have been playing ESO for almost a year now, and we finally got the man power and courage to walk around craglorn without getting our butt's kicked! Lol So Craglorn and all this Nirnhoned/Nirncrux is kind of new to us. With these Master Crafting writs they have been dropping the "Nine trait or Nirnhoned" trait on us, and none of us knew how or where to get it. Lol The achievement list said it was in Craglorn (But didn't tell us where at Lol) , and we were told that Cyrodill had Nirnhoned traits? Or was that misinformed?

I like the idea of having some other Master Crafter helping us out with researching the nirnhoned trait, it's really hard to trust someone without having them stealing your stuff LOL. But if it comes down to that, hopefully we'll find a trustworthy Crafter. :)

Maybe not next patch with the increase in penetration from CP and more people wearing light/medium armor. It might actually be useful as sharpened weapons will probably cause over penetration.

it drops all over Craglorn these days,

    Nirncrux is not rare

Sorry, but it is super rare. And super expensive, going for 10k to 12k a stone

Before the changes, it was rare to find one, but you did get them once a week or less from plants mainly.

Since the update, I have found 2 in one year (one every 6 months almost to the day); and I got 2 from an anniversary box at some point.

By comparison, I actually got 10 Night Pumice for Ebony Trait (worth 60 writs) from one anniversary box.

So you get 10 free Night Pumice for every 2 Nirncux, making it the rarest rock to be found.

You must be on a console because the armour nirncrux sells for 2.5k nowadays and the weapon one for 8ish.. And I find at least 1 every day I farm in craglorn..

I just buy pieces from guild traders and research them.

    PS4 prices:

Armor is usually 3k to 8k gold.
Weapons are usually 8k to 16k gold.

Just shop around a little bit and you'll usually find a decent deal.

I'm at the tail end of all my research traits, so whenever I have a spot open up I buy a nirnhoned piece and research it.

vMA is short for veteran Maelstrom Arena, it's a solo trial. If you were recently having troubles in Craglorn then I'm thinking this is a little out of your league in terms of difficulty, but it does drop weapons in the nirnhoned trait.
