Magicka Nightblade Defiler PVP Theorycraft

The idea of the build would be to taunt a targeted enemy (preferably a damage dealer) so the enemy does 50% less damage to your teammates then you disappear with cloak. The Nightblade class also has a lot of great utility skills that aid with defiling the enemy. Ideally, you'll want to use your supporting skills first, then drop the taunt and disappear. These are some preliminary thoughts, and I'd be interested in hearing what others might add to this idea.

5 Piece Vanguard's Challenge - Chest, Legs, Necklace, Ring, Ring
(2 items) Adds 1064 Max Health
(3 items) Adds 1064 Max Health
(4 items) Adds 4% Healing Taken
(5 items) When you taunt an enemy Player, they deal 50% less damage to all other Players but 100% more damage to you for 15 seconds.

5 Piece Seducer - Feet, Waist, Gloves, Shoulder, Destruction/Restoration Staff
(2 items) Adds 129 Magicka Recovery
(3 items) Adds 967 Max Magicka
(4 items) Adds 129 Magicka Recovery
(5 items) Reduces the cost of your Magicka abilities by 8%.

1 Piece Shadowrend - Helmet
(1 items) Adds 129 Magica Recovery

Skills

1) Inner Rage - Your most important skill because it taunts enemies from a distance to trigger the 50% damage reduction.
2) Pulsar - 10% health reduction.
3) Lotus Fan - Speed reduction.
4) Piercing Mark - Prevents enemy stealth and drops their defenses.
5) Mirage - More defense and dodge chance.
6) Dark Cloak - Grants you 8% less damage taken and you disappear.
7) Manifestation of Terror - Create fear traps on the ground to protect yourself if detected (enemies can't see the traps).
8) Shadow Image - Further reduces enemy damage and allows you to perfrom defensive maneuver of teleport.
9) Crippling Grasp - Ranged immobilize and slow
10) Elusive Mist - great defensive escape when in a jam and cloak won't cut it.

Interesting Combinations

Inner Rage + Cloak = The bread and butter combo for defiling a target.

Bolstering Darkness Ultimate + Elusive Mist = 60% damage reduction and 75% damage reduction skills in case the taunted enemy targets you.

Manifestation of Terror + Shadow Image = Control over areas while protecting yourself and adding maneuverability.

    It will have to be tested on PTS, but I'm pretty sure if you taunt something and then cloak, while others are around, you will just lose the taunt.

    Ohhhhhhhh... I think you're right because that is what happens in PVE. I wouldn't be surprised if it works the same in PVP.

    I would love for it to work in PVP because I would really enjoy playing a stealthy defiler. I think you might be right, though, in that the taunt could be removed once cloak is activated (same way it does in PVE). It depends on how ZOS defines the taunt on other players and also whether the potential removal of the taunt would affect how the set works.

    If cloaking doesn't work, perhaps you could modify the build to focus on running away from the enemies after you taunt them.

    Can we make it worse with tremorscale? Does perhaps the damage weakness disappear when you swap out the set? Can we find some other way to exploit this set? Smh...
    The generally amicable yet sporadically salty magplar that may or may not have 1vXed you in Sotha Sil. Who knows?

    Think about how much risk you're taking. 100% extra damage done to you by the player you taunt. That's a death wish if you're not smart about using the set.

    I wish there were more sets like Vanguard's Challenge which can be either lethal or detrimental depending on how the player approaches combat. Give me more boom or bust options. I love tradeoff.

    Gear Set

    Vanguard’s Challenge

    (Two ways you can go about this, You can do DW/Jewelry or Staff/Jewerly/Armor Piece)

    Robes of Tramsmuation
    (2 Items) Adds 129 Magicka Recovery
    (3 Items) Adds 129 Magicka Recovery
    (4 Items) Adds 688 Spell Critical
    (5 Items) When you heal a target with a healing over time ability, grant them 1304 Critical Resistance for 20 seconds.

    (This set will either be your 5 piece armor set, or you can do Restro Staff/Armor Pieces Back Bar)

    Tremor Scales Helm/Shoulders

    Weapon Slot One - Staff or DW
    Concealed Blade (For Speed), Inner Rage (Ranged Taunt, If staff route you can do Ice Staff for Heavy Attack), Shadow Image, Dark Cloak, Cripple

    Weapon Slot Two - Restro Staff
    Swallow Soul (Or Funnel), Regen, Harness Magicka, Healing Ward, Double Take. (you can replace Swallow Soul if ya want, Same with Harness Magicka if ya want to go more debuff routing or slot Purge)

    Put Magicka Recovery on Jewelry, You're not there for damage you're there to reduce the players damage while maintaining stealth as long as possible.

    So lets say you come across a 1v1, with this *** build you're able to Put a Hot on the your friend (Two if ya use Funnel)....Reducing the crit damage he takes, you're able to Shadow image onto the target reducing his damage, and you'r able to Inner Rage applying a stupidly powerful snare and a 50% damage debuff..Now he could attempt to chase you around, But you have a Teleport a Root, and Dark Cloak...
