I would actually love to be able to fly over Tamriel. The landscape would be just breathtaking.

However Zos said they won't be adding flying mounts, probably because:

No cause mechanics and logic. If they did fly it'd be like a foot off the ground and look very very stupid

iirc Zos said they would not add flying mounts. Of course they are talking about ones that would actually fly more than above the ground.

It would take a complete new design for mount behavior to make one that would truly fly so it will not happen. Not worth the effort.

I'd sooner be interested in an expansion on the current fishing. Build Pirate ships or shipping vessels of various sizes. Have overseas "trials" perhaps? The possibilities in the rather expansive oceans are vast.

Never say never. In other games where devs said it simple wasn't feasible to have flying mounts, they suddenly found it feasible.

I love flying in WoW. its one of the main reasons I even still play it. but... in order to introduce flying in ESO, I have a feeling, they would have to redesign the world from scratch. even housing shows occasional seams when you build high enough.

that and unlike WoW where traveling is utterly annoyingly awful - fast travel in ESO, not to mention being able to traverse a LOT more freely then in WoW, makes up for lack of flight. IMO. I would not say no to flying in ESO. but.. I won't be too sad if its never added either (unlike WoW which with every expansion gets more and more annoying to travel around without flight)
    dirty worthless casual.

Hello everyone, ever since this game has been out I Noticed where ZOS has only added horses, lions, bear and that's it,I haven't seen one mention of it, so does anyone believe ZOS has any plans of releasing any flying mounts any time soon or in the future?
    Nope!

There are no "flying mounts" in the elder scrolls lore. Well, not many flying creatures big enough to carry a grown person and still fly anyhow.
I mean, harpies, cliff racers or giant bats are too small to carry a person for any length of time (a short glide down a mountain to a town in the alik'r aside), netches can barely float their own weight... Sure, daedric titans could, but... they work for the other side. Dragons also could... but they are all dead or in hiding until the events of TES:Skyrim in the fourth era. And to the best of my knowledge, great eagles, griffins and pegasi are just legends on Nirn...

There was a loremasters Q&A touching on this: http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Lady_Honnorah_af-Lahreq_Answers_Your_Questions

Levitation spells -do- exist in TES lore, though they are quite iffy, unpredictable, and often end in tragedy (you can find one such mage in Shadowfen... well... the remains anyhow), and in most cases, are good for nothing but a big jump... which all by itself would have been an interesting non-combat spell to have for the mages guild, but... would have caused iffyness all the same, because...

...on a more technical note, flying in any form would be too much trouble, it would mess up their world-setup if you could fly past the invisible walls, slaughterfish and area transition zones and out into uncharted territory (which can happen on occasion even now when someone is smart enough to get past the holes in the invisible border walls on some maps - there are youtube videos about this, though I am guessing the developers will plug the worst holes when they too watch those)

Sure, they could add loads of bigger invisible walls or transfer zones... but those would add more lag (since the computer has to include every object interaction in its world calculations, be it "bouce off" or "transfer to next region" - meaning if they have to double the height of the invisiwall, its double the lag, and with flying around, they'd have to make their walls/zones very, very tall, so much that it might be quite noticable a drain on the CPU resources... at least that's how a programmer once explained it to me in another game)

Worse, it would make keeps in cyrodil a joke, when people could just fly in at their leisure. Same with many "get past them" quests in PvE zones if you could just fly over "them"...

    ...

That being said, what we could get someday would be -floating- mounts. As in, hovering just above the ground, visually, but otherwise behaving just like any other mount.

    Floating carpets.
    Floating broomsticks.
    Floating thrones.
    Floating meditation pillow.
    Floating cloud.
...possibly even a floating netch mount straining to keep airborne, or a harpy/bat struggling to carry a "passenger" barely above the ground...

    That sort of thing...

We don't need flying mounts. Wayshrines are better than all other options including flying, flying is so exhausting imo i rather wait for loading screen to go another zone.

Well.... TES III Morrowind had a levitation spell... and furthermore you could even enchant a ring to have slow but PERMANENT levitation on you... And If you played this game you probably know the "joke" spell that basically allowed you to jump insanely far... ah.. the nostalgia B)

Btw. Morrowind was a game made in a completely different way than eso and newer TES games... There was nothing preventing you from for example accidentally killing important NPC... and making the "fail - state" - when the game was un-win-able until you loaded previous save....

Flying nope. But Hang gliding mounts could be fun. No way to fly higher, but able to fall slowly to the ground. I always enjoyed finding a high point and see how far I can glide down.

Flying mounts work fine for WOW. Their world is designed with it in mind. ESO would need a massive overhaul. Lore also doesn't support it. I don't ever recall reading anything about people flying on any creatures.

I think ground mounts are all this game needs. At times I still enjoy just walking/running around taking in the world.

I doubt the engine even supports it. (I read somewhere that the reason we don't have underwater swiming is due to the engine not supporting it. I imagine it would be the same case with flying)

I don't like the idea. Flying in WoW trivialized a lot of stuff. Don't want to fight that group of mobs? That's fine, just fly over them. It made the world seem a lot smaller too.

How about druids gathering resources in flight form? They never aggro'd anything.

Remember I had an ring with 5-6 x fortify jump 100 and slowfall on it.
it made you go ballistic, and yes you could overshoot Vivec city with it :)

You could make an levitate 1 spell with max area effect and duration, this was basically an non hostile slow spell.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I can just see the mass chaos from adding flying mounts now.

The hordes of glitches, bugs, complaints... ZeniMax Studios would be burned down to the ground from the mass hysteria in no time.

Yeah, as much as I love the idea - I just don't think it would happen.
