Changing spec without huge costs to redo CP points?

Is there any way I can swap between healer and dps without having to spend ages redoing all my cp points. I have an addon to swap gear out but there's no way I'm going to be doing the cp points back and forth over and over again.

Is this really the way it is? Seems so silly to be locked into having to play one spec.

Nope but they desperately need a multi spec feature.

    Savable templates would be handy.

Yes, unfortunately eso does not support people who want to play as multiple roles or as a support role while still being able to effictively do solo pve. A multiple spec feature has been suggested many times, but the conclusion of these discussions is always that some people don't need it thus are against it, some people play a mix and match style to do both dps and tank (both at a mediocre level) and thus are against it because they feel they can do that already, and some find it an aacceptable gold sink to spend 1000's of gold to switch between effective roles. So unfortunately, because people don't know how usefull multiple saved specs would be, this is not implemented and will probably never happen.

Definitely for saved CP spec templates. Doesn't need to be huge, say 3-4 savable specs per char - click to select template, click to apply (and deduct the 3k gold cost). Done.

Re: OP assertion about huge costs though - not sure 3k gold rises to that level of description. Enough to make you think before willy nilly respect over and over, but other than for new players - who wouldn't be doing role based CP switches yet anyways, I don't see the cost as being an issue.

The hassle to reset points, especially for common flipping back and forth between specific roles like group healer and solo, etc, is what I'd focus more on.

What I mean is what I'd like to do when I'm geared is maybe do some dungeon runs as a healer, then play dps in some trials, then maybe quest with a hybrid build. If I was to do this I would have to respec at least 3 times in one day which would cost me 9,000 gold. No not a bank breaker but no one is going to want to spend that much every day. It'd cost me around 300k a month just for respecs.

Also it's more the pain of distributing the points themselves which is unnecessarily laborious.

Pretty much every other mmo I've ever played allows you to play more than one role to give variety. I'm healer and it is a pain to be stuck with low dps when i'm soloing and unable to try being a dd in groups for a change.

Why give me a sandbox and then charge me when I swap between a spade and a bucket?

CP doesnt cost as much as say a skill respec of 360 skill points. paying 14k to respec is punishment imho

The cost is negligible really, unless you respec every day. What annoys me the most is having to manually click 600 times to attribute my CP all over again.

    Not with a single character.

Yes, because ZoS elected to give players multiple character slots, rather than a multiple spec system.

I understand the frustration people have of grinding new characters (as I am doing now), but this is how the game was designed.

Thankfully, bringing alt characters to CP160 isn't as difficult as it used to be in the VR days. The worst element of this is skyshard grinding.

Ive spent over a million gold redoing my charachters. I only played one char until october of last year, and now i have 3 thanks to the xp events. Id rather redo my current charachter skills than start a brand new one

Its way better than doing hours of story, skyshards and lore books just to feel whole again.

I hate levelling alts. I like most players don't have the time for that, not even close. I have kids and a job and get maybe an hour or so a night if I'm lucky. I'm the kind of player who invests his time in one character and gains pleasure from seeing it progress. MMO's generally cater to all sorts of players and I don't agree with the logic that they designed the game to push you to level multiple characters.

All MMO's give you multiple characters and most let you swap specs and actively encourage you to do so as this increases longevity for the player who has more variety to gameplay.

It's not a case of 'they designed it that way and that's that', online games adapt and change with the times. ESO is no different, when I played it originally at launch it paled in comparison to what I log into now.

It would be very easy to implement. Just allow players to respec points out of combat from anywhere in the world and then addons can do the rest. They can charge, just maybe reduce the cost a bit to encourage people to try new builds and be inventive. After all that's what they have stated they would like when morrowind is released.
