Stam builds using Draugr/Pirate vs Hundings/NM

So what makes armor with Max Stamina/Stamina Regen better than armor with Crit/Weapon Damage? I see builds for Stam Dk/Stamplar using Hulking Draugr/Bone Pirate. What makes those pieces of armor so much better? I've been curious about max stam vs weapon damage/Crit. Any info is appreciated and this is something I've been thinking about for the past week or so.

Two ways to look at this:

    (1) It's burst vs. sustain. If you never run out of stamina with max damage/crit, then more power to you! But if you're having to spend half your time heavy-attacking to keep your stamina up, then max stam / stam regen starts looking really good. Remember that you also get more DPS from having higher max stamina. So your total damage output doesn't go down as much as the lower weapon damage suggests it might.

    (2) It's damage output vs. tankiness.

High stam / stam regen means never having to drop your block. When I run as a tank in vet dungeons and trials, I completely don't care about the lower damage output. I never waste stamina trying to help my group damage the boss, because the cardinal sin would be for me to drop my block at the wrong time and get killed.

In PvP, the calculus is a little different but the idea is the same. Do you want to be unkillable, or do you want to kill?

Thank you for the response! I've seen some builds suggest the BP/HD gear. I guess I'll just farm for the few pieces I need and just test it out. Farming will take awhile -_-

I look at it like this do you want to farm @800 mats or buy 8 stacks for hundings nmg or do you want to farm set pieces

I've used Hundings rage pieces on my nb.... The gear just doesn't feel to strong.. Spriggans does more damage than the Hundings.Granted spriggans on my Stam DK/Stamplar feels much stronger. That's just my opinion though : )

I go back and forth on the Max Stam vs Max WPN DMG.

One big element is if you are using more skills for actual damage or for non-damage. By way of analogy, when I play a mag sorc I want Max Magica so my shields will be as high as possible, and I also get increased damage to boot. So for example a Stam Tank casting immovable or other defensive Stam skills would definitely want max stame. A DK casting more support skills would also want higher stam but if he is using more weapon skills he might want more weapon damage.
