Four SUGGESTIONS, two important [1. Items transmutation][2.Equipable trohpies/trinkets/you-name-it]

Hi!

First of all, for those who feel a bit lazy or short of time, essence of the topic is bolded, it gives the idea, for more arguments and explanation, you have to read the rest. Short introductory paragraph - I know that half of suggestions are hated, and the other half is wanted or needed by everyone. I have myself many ideas, but it's not about changing the game for my liking. So I'm sticking with two which I think are not only common in other games, but also important from the producer perspective and very profitable, which is main reason for the game existence (?). The reason behind this topic is to propose something that would benefit both players and Producers. Forgive me if those suggestion were given in the past.

1) An option to change items appearance

Known as transmogrification, transmutation, transformation and other difficult names. It's an option that seems to be more and more evolving in most popular games titles. Yes, I mean Diablo 3, World of Warcraft and probably more. From the player perspective it gives what many of us want - ability to create unique, very personal look. You become more attached to character and to the game. That's where producer perspective comes - the more players get attached, the more time they spend in game, the more they buy (ESO+, Crown Store). You should be looking for every detail that will attach us to the game, to find us, to rule us all, to bring us all and in the darkness bind. That's why the motifs are so addictive and players can spend hours, days for farming (in a way) them. Also, items could be changeable only through orbs of transmutation, bought in crown store (more money).

I think some of the players are torn with either having the best set possible (for PvP/PvE) or looking like you want to. And for me, many of the best items look unsatisfactory, if not silly. I would love to farm the best sets, but I would have trouble wearing them. However without sets, PvP and PvE becomes hard, unsatisfactory, you cannot really compete. And yes, you can say we have costumes - but those are far from perfect, most of them aren't even battle-looking (if that's a word). I know that costumes mean money, but dear Producers, I think those two options are not excluding each other, and bringing transmogrification wouldn't hit your pockets, as costumes are more 'casual' and not wearable 'to battle' (I mean it's possible, just thinking that buying that imperial dress is more for showing off in the city :) ).

Final argument - if Blizzard is using it, it generates money somehow. The amount of time and resources Blizzard is spending on research, to make their games more 'addictive', through collecting big-data, testing, etc. is huge. Little quotation:
"Part of the reason for that is, I think, that these large game companies have access to an incredible trove of data. So one thing that a lot of the designers do is they'll release different versions of missions ... to different people, sort of A/B test these different missions. They'll look at how long you play, whether you return to the game, and generally how engaged you are. They generally call this "time on device," which is a term that's borrowed from the gambling world — how long are you on the slot machine.

What they'll find is, for example, when you have to save [rescue] something, you spend more time playing than say, when you have to kill or find something. So what they'll do is they'll take the missions that aren't as successful and they'll cast them aside, and now they'll form three new versions of saving missions. ... They'll continue that process through generation after generation after generation. So what you're left with after, say, 20 generations is this weaponized evolved version of the game, or a weaponized evolved mission, that is maximally addictive."

How transmogrification works? Depends, but first of all - you have to somehow get the desired look - with motifs there is no problem, with unique monster sets - you can make them either 'untransmogrificable' (yes, I just created this word), meaning that no item could be transmutated into for example Selene set, but Selene set could be transformed into breton. No point in further explanation, it's just the idea, you can do this however you want. Then you can transmogrify item to the desired look, if you had that look earlier.

Summing up - I think it's needed by players, it attaches players to the game. More players attached to the game, means more money. I didn't post all of the arguments because I think it's pretty self-explanatory.

2) Equipable items - trophies, trinkets, whatever

Now, as for transmogrification I think that is needed by players, and because of the players - by Producers. With my second idea (technically it's not mine - spoiler alert) I am not so sure if the demand is so high, however the profits, money for Producers - are huge in it.

Little background. I first met this idea in Warhammer Online - Age of Reckoning game. I don't know if it is implemented in other MMORPGs, like WoW. Your character had 5 slots specifically just for items, called trophies. They didn't have any stats, they were just for bragging, for the look - yeah, one of the most important factors in MMO games. You could have looted them, acquire them as a reward for specific achievments, drop in PvP. Some of them were funny, some of them were 'just common', some were dreadful. Let me show you this video (watch on x1.25 speed from 5:14 to 7:16) for better understanding:
https://youtu.be/ccpiqWvyTtE?t=5m14s - the idea is: a) you have to get trohpies, b) you can equip them, c) you can change their placement but that is limited - for example medals on chest, shoulder pads, skull of your enemy only at belt, but different sides (front left, front right, back left, back right), same with books etc. Otherwise it would glitch with standard items.

You can say we have trophies in game. You can also show them at the wall of your house. This is different. It's not about wearing a big-ass griffin head attached to you (yeah, Witcher reference), but small, distinctive items, that create unique look, give a chance to brag even more. Let me list some of them, that come to my mind, but to be honest sky is the limit: medals (for PvP, etc.), scrolls, books, small daggers, bags, alchemy bottles, chicken feet (gross, so for witches only), hands of enemies, skulls attached to your belt/bandolier, basically every limb for those dark ones, orbs, lucky charms - rabbit's foot, alchemy phial, seals (with scrolls, sticked to your pauldron for example), whip, blacksmithing hammer, trumpet, shackles, chains, jug, and I could go on for hours. Small items, that give your character a character (pun intended). Small and placed well enough to avoid glitching. On the margin - cloaks are a total different story (and I don't like them :P) but also very profitable.

You could have gain them by completing new achievments, challenges, fighting PvP, conquering keeps, master crafting, questing, looting, luck AND (attention dear Producers!) through Crown Store (money river) - again sky is the limit. Some of them could be extra rare and hard to achieve, some more common. I feel like I've written too much, so I'm going to end second idea here, and if any arguments needed, or something to explain - feel free to ask. Let me post some images for inspiration and general idea.

3) Robes / cassocks / monk's frocks on legs slot
Yeah you got me, I'm totally warrior priest of Sigmar fan, so I made those two stupid suggestions above just to smuggle this. But seriously now.

I've seen one topic on this and some people didn't understand what was the idea and why. So it's about something like a robe, coming from under the chestplate (let's say heavy, iron plate). So I'm not asking about making skirts, it's just the top is under another item, so only the legs cloth is visible. It's a classic battlemage look, that even producers implemented to ESO, just not enough, in my humble opinion. :) For example we had that in Imperial Battlemage Pack - three different costumes, every with heavy-ish armor and "skirt" - robe under the armor let's say. However this costume is not universal, and what's most important - not longer available. And it's just a costume, so you can't change items look. We also have daedric breeches, and that's the only option now, which seems a bit... restricted? It's not so unrealistic, especially in a world like Elder Scrolls...

We have this look in many fantasies. Templars (hic!) in Dragon Age, warrior priests in Warhammer, crusaders in Diablo (well, kind of...), paladins, witchers (bear set). I would also like to add, that this cloth doesn't have to be regular. It can be also cut in half (more like a knight/paladin style) with chainmail under it. Let me show you different examples of "robes" visible only on legs level (because on chest level there is something on it):

4) Head slot: a) circlets b) gorgets/collars
a) Short, because it's not so important. I feel like circlets in game (this part of style on your forehead) are not made properly, I mean, it's clearly discrimination of bald guys! When you have hair - it cannot be made round, because it would glitch - I get it. But it should differentiate, on a short-haired men it looks... weird? I don't know if that was an intention, I know people wear those half-circlets (tiaras?) in real life, there is just lack of something around your head.

There could be also equipable items on slot: head. Like mage circlets, steel, diamond, jewelry... you get it. We have mage hoods, circlet is a next level for bad-ass mage.

b) Also, and it existed in medieval armors as a part for the neck - gorgets (collars). I feel like it's an important addition, another variable, instead of wearing helmet or hood. Since some of us need to show our character's pretty faces, hiding helmet is the only option. If it comes to reality, it looked like this:

But we could go to fantasy level and have something like that:

Thank you for reading. I hope I didn't waste your time. If you're not interested in some of the topics, feel free to comment even on one suggestion. Also please understand, that I've probably missed some arguments and thoughts, might be wrong in some parts. It's a long text, and I'm just a human. It's addressed for everybody, hopefully One of Them will read this also.
