This is how it starts. Bots taking over games, leveling up toons quickly. The next thing you know, it will be full blown Sky.Net and terminator droids taking out the organics for playing too slow.
Botting is just a sign of a deeper issue. There should be means to get to engame content instantly with alts after you have reached 50 with your 1st character.
And please dont start with "learning your class properly" crap.
The sad thing is that it's still happening and ZOS hasn't really managed to crack down on it in a meaningful way.
I know Jessica said they were looking for a in game way to edit this but really they need to figure out why it takes over a week for a bot report to be acted on (if at all).
And with every bot and abuser the game becomes more unplayable - until it reaches a limit where real playing pays no more.
That pretty much is the case as is. You have people who openly advertise doing VMA for you (for gold of course), and guaranteeing you of a leaderboard spot for the week.
I agree with the sentiment in selling achievements, but the AP one is purely commercial and is in exchange for buying AP items, not getting AP directly to that player. There's an AP:Gold ratio and person A buys <x> item for AP, then person B gets <x> in exchange for gold. You have people who openly advertise doing VMA for you (for gold of course), and guaranteeing you of a leaderboard spot for the week. You have people selling gold in the zone chats regularly, and linking which site to visit to buy said gold. You have people who sell AP for gold (I don't know how this is done). You have people who sell: VMoL, VCoS, and VRoM skin runs. You been had and still have people who sell emperorship. When the exploit was around, you had people selling Dro-m'Athra Destroyer titles. You even have people selling Skyreach runs now.
At what point is actually playing the game feeling rewarding, outside of being able to buy certain things from the achievement vendors for housing?
I'm not condoning botting but for some the game only begins at level cap where they fixate on phat lewt and lolBiS gear, so they do anything to make the journey 1-cap as easy as possible .. and AFKing at a dolmen while asleep or elsewhere works for them.Sometimes near dark anchors I run into players on autopilot who stand still and rapid fire their light attacks.
I have no understanding for this. If the game is too boring to level up by playing then why play at all? That is kinda the essence of the game?
That's fine if you're also going to invest the time and energy in following the money and sanctioning the buyers.DMuehlhausen wrote: »The sad thing is that it's still happening and ZOS hasn't really managed to crack down on it in a meaningful way.

Because you don't ban bots individually. You wait till you have lists of 1000s then ban them all at one time. If you don't alone then they figure out quicker why they were banned and how they did it. By the time you get through the current botters the old ones are back with a new system. Do it in one fell swoop you might get a couple months of relavtively no bots.
You're not allowed to spread misinformation on the forums.Actually, if you report each of the players that are doing it, they suddenly disappear.
