Dead Rubberbanders at Auridon Dolmen?

I just saw two dead players waiting to be resurrected on top of that tent canopy at the dolmen near Vulkel Guard. Since that is where the rubberbanders perch to cheat without getting hit, does this mean that maybe the GMs have finally found a way to take them out?

Past month or so I've noticed every now and then the boss will ignore the group there and run straight to the tent. Sometimes people kite the adds to them too

I saw them there just yesterday and while some critters did run up there, they more or less remained. I guess because rubberbands aren't software then its okay. ZOS could simply take a look then ban everyone standing there pointless firing at nothing between spawns. Have them appeal explaining how that's not the case. I have a computer that will starting doing crazy stuff like attacking over and over but I'm not standing still during trying to regain control while also standing near a spawn point for hours on end.

Can you please explain your understanding of the term. "rubberbanding" ?

I came to know it as "keep running for some time even when your hands are afk" and least assured: I don't want that. Not at all.
Usually its happening in combat situations, most obvious in PVP and least assured, i do not want to rubberband over the keeps wall, neither do i want to rubberband into the zerg ... i don't even want to rubberband past the ressource node I just spotted. Fankly I can't imagine anyone or any situation when rubberbanding could be desireable.

Btw: Having scripeted actions performed while the player is afk is called: boting.

The term "rubberbanding" refers to one of 2 things, depending on the context.

It can refer to cases where lag causes the client-side and server-side actions to get out of sync. In those cases characters & mobs can appear to a player to be in one place, but the server has them in a different place, and from the player's point of view at some point other players and mobs will suddenly "rubberband" to a different position (ie. to where the server says they are, as opposed to where the client thought they were).

It can also refer to cases where a player has gone AFK but has put something in place to keep the character doing a single action over and over while he's AFK. Typically this is done by physically putting a rubber band on a controller to hold down a single button - usually the attack one. If you see a character standing in one spot heavy attacking in the same direction over and over and over, this is rubberbanding. It's different from botting in that botting is a more sophisticated software-based method of having a character do things without a person physically controlling them, while rubberbanding is not. Both botting and rubberbanding can serve the same purposes though, and both are definitely against the TOS.

The way I understand it is that it originated with game controllers - a player would literally put a rubberband on the controller to keep the fire key held down. In the case of ESO, the term is used to apply to players that fire continually while away from the game. In this case, setting up in a place near a dolmen to gain XP all day while they are off doing something else.

The term matters far less than what the actual issue is here. Both "botting" and "rubberbanding" refer to the problem. And it's an issue that I find super annoying. Some days there are so many people perched around the dolmens and endlessly firing that it messes with the game for those of us actually playing. Since I saw dead characters up on the tent for the first time today, I hope that means something is being done...

Well, just report then as bots. According to forum there is someone checking sometimes and displing the player/accounts by sending them straight to oblivion. ;)

But as you describe it: chances are someone pulled the pack aggro and then made a swift escape / or died trying to solo the dolmen and the mobs attacked the cheaters from the wrong side.

I have reported. Many times. That's not the original topic of my post. I'm not asking what can be done - I was stating that something may have been done. Hopefully.

I doubt seriously that ZoS just simply went there and killed them. More than likely they got agro (either by no one else being around the dolmen to handle most of the mobs or someone training the mobs to the botters).

I don't see rubberbanding working out too well with a whole dolmen on you and no one live there taking the heat back off. If it was only 2 of them and they pulled agro - they were toast.

I think he was hoping they somehow changed something in the coding to make them aggro them. Not sure how they would go about doing that, but I believe that is what op is referring to.

How do you kite mobs to rubberbanders? I'd be happy to help make more of them turn up dead on top of the tent. >:) I'm assuming one needs some kind of ranged mob to spawn to hit them...

GM's went there and "re-positioned" them up in the sky and the fell down...death be fall damage...and yes there is a video to show the GM's at work but I can't find the link (in another thread somewhere)

Actually, its not okay and they can be reported as stated by ZOS.
