Why does my mount go slower when I hold down sprint?

It feels like it hits invisible rocks and it slows my speed down. It is so annoying.

TESO needs a wardrobe system badly. Something similar to WoW's tmog system would make this game one of the best mmorpg out there!

I don't think it's possible to answer that without knowing your platform and method of control, along with any relevant key bindings etc. It's certainly not something I've ever experienced on PC with mouse and keyboard and with the default sprint setting. Do you suffer from any more general lag or other performance hits when you're not mounted? If you have more than one mount does it affect all of them, and in all zones or is it more specific?

I'm assuming you're not referring to hiccups occurring when your stamina runs out and recharges.

It's a bug. Happens to me quite frequently. Taking my finger off shift and then reapplying it causes sprint to work properly.

Getting jammed up on terrain takes you out of sprint. You just have to let go of shift and reapply to begin sprinting again (provided you have enough stamina, of course), as the previous poster said.

Happens to me all the time in Cyrodill, even with rapids on, seems like its hitting terrain that is slowing me down.

But there is no terrain............ It's a bug for sure or server lag, something....

Yeah I got 60 in speed and around 46 in stamina. I constantly have to reapply the sprint or it drops off even at near full stam and even on flat unobstructed terrain. ...Oh and I'm on xbox NA .. not just a pc thing

My mount slows down whenever there are enemies nearby, unless I start sprinting well before I get to the enemies. But if I try sprinting close to the enemies, suddenly my horse goes slow as molasses. At least that's how it seems to me.

2 of my mounts are fully trained and I encounter the same problem. Can depend on the terrain of course.

Happens to me alot too. Might have something to do with that new kinetic thing they mentioned to resolve this in the patch notes.

I think it happen if you have an low level mount, you don't have much stamina and it run out after an short time and will have to build it up again.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    It's not a bug.

You're supposed to spam sprint key repeatedly to sprint while mounted. It's even in the short tutotrial tips on the screen when you get your first mount. I don't know if everyone notices but your mount speed is faster when you're spamming sprint key compared to holding it down.

You can, however, sprint 'slower' while your mount stamina is 0 via holding down the sprint key. Keep in mind that you risk getting knocked off of your mount if you get hit.
This is especially painful for PvPers in Cyro.

Jump. If you cross repeat territory, you get to know where all the invisible bumps are.

Not all of course, but for common routes in popular places, you get to know them. On the beach path towards Auridon craft writ turn in for example, there are couple spots that look absolutely smooth, but you always bog down and stumble to a crawl, unless you jump at those 2 spots or slightly veer left to run across the wooden dock planks.

This is a left over of what was the real horse stumble bug - if you think it is bad now, players from couple years ago can remember how bad it was then. It was like horses were on bad drugs and just roofied all the time, stumbling, stopping, halt go stop spastic animations.

They "fixed" it to what we have now. It's not good - but omg so far better than what it used to be.
