Since ZOS is nerfing everything in the name of balance, how about rebalancing weapon traits

The Morrowind patch is meant to be a rebalancing patch to handle the power creep... In a extremely overexagerated way. One thing the community has asked for is the rebalancing of weapon traits. Please note that this is not a nerf sharpened thread and I feel like zos has did enough nerfing and instead should look at the other traits such as nirnhoned and precise and buff those weapon traits to be more competitive with sharpened because right now its sharpened or nothing... Nirnhoned the most expensive weapon trait has become mostly decon and research trash and precise is second best yet goes nowhere near sharpened in terms of usefulness... I know some of you will say with proper up times precise can outperform sharpened but how often does that happen?

Sharpened should remain the same, this patch has nerfed enough things already.

Precise should be buffed to include a flat bonus percentage damage to critical damage dealt as it currently only provides a bonus chance to land a critical strike... including bonus crit damage would help increase precise usefulness to help get closer to sharpened

Nirnhoned, the rarest and most expensive trait should get a massive buff to reflect its rarity

Agree 100% with the changes to precise and a nirnhoned buff.

Having sharpened being the only viable DPS trait is really annoying. Having 3 viable DPS traits that will shine individually depending on your build would be great.

I'm sure ZOS will revisit weapon traits. ZOS did say that they are looking at a serious comprehensive balancing of the game that extends beyond update 3.0 Morrowind.

I just want a working attack speed trait since they saddled us with the slowest heavy attack possible.

Can Infused get some love, too? I'm still waiting for my viable Enchanter build ...

I would also like to see the ultimate generation upped on Decisive and something drastic done to Infused. They should be on an equal enough footing to make it about personal preference.

Imagine a monster set that 2nd piece bonus made all your smaller pieces count as big pieces

That's 1 thing that I loved about Diablo 3. It had/has an amazing weapon system, and allows you to further adjust your weapons how you see fit (to a degree). Whether it re-rolling certain stats for a better IAS/CHD/CHC, or even something as simple as "cube'ing" it for a socket. It was great. Plus, each gem applied would have a different effect on the weapon. In fact, I think I might play some D3 today.

Yeah... ZOS definitely need to look some traits up and tweak them a little bit.
Prosperous for example should give you more gold from looting enemies... but guess what ? You will be better of with Impenetrable because it Reduces item's durability damage 50% - so you pay less for gear repair....

btw. I am afraid that talking about item Traits might give ZOS an idea to introduce 10th trait with Morrowind (and 10th trait crafting gear)

If i were in charge of balance these would be my changes with the feedback:

Nirnhoned: to 12/13/14/15/16% (2h) 6/6.5/7/7.5/8% (1h) weapon and spell damage from 7/8/9/10/11 base weapon damage (the weapon itself).

Precise: to 11/12/13/14/15% (2h) 5.5/6/6.5/7/7.5% (1h) critical rating and critical damage from
    1.5/2/2.5/3/3.5 (1h) 3/4/5/6/7 (2h) critical rating

Decisive: Reduce ultimate cost of abilities by 2/3/4/5/6% (2h) 1/1.5/2/2.5/3 (1h) from whatever the hell it is now.

Charged: to increase potency of status effects by 60/70/80/90/100% (2h) 30/35/40/45/50% (1h) from increasing chance of applying status effects by 70/80/90/100/110% (1h) 140/160/180/200/220% (2h)

Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

One, unless you are in the closed beta you haven't experienced Morrowind to know if stuff is actually "NERFED".

    Yes, it is called balance.

    +1 on the Nirnhorned buff.

You don't need to be in the beta to check the patch notes to figure out our characters are nerfed

I like your idea for Precise!

    I would add:
    • Double the effect of the following weapon traits: Powered, Charged, Infused, Nirnhoned, Decisive
    • Double the effect of Reinforced armor trait
    • Well-fitted armor trait reduces cost of break free in addition to reducing cost of roll dodge and sprinting
    • Remove Prosperous and replace all existing Prosperous items with training trait

I think Sharpened, Defending, Training, Divines, Sturdy are already pretty solid as they are.

GinaBruno has already stated (somewhere in one of the early Morrowind-related threads) that there will NOT be a new trait in the Morrowind update 14. However, the door is open for them to add another trait in some OTHER later DLC.... and it is fairly likely that one will be added, if they ever want to introduce 10-trait craftable sets etc...

Yeah precise should apply critical damage. Decisive should have a stronger number and a better regain mechanic, higher percent. Powered should just be more than it is... healing done is so limiting

Well your first mistake is assuming that ZOS' goal is actually to rebalance when in fact it really looks more like their goal is to push the Warden class.
