Sword and Board Leveling

Have been a big fan of Protection Paladin of WOW (WOTLK).

I used to handle 20-30 mobs (no kidding !) of the same level and still come out unscathed.

There's a thrill in being a uber strong character which comes out alive after facing hordes of same level mobs :)

With that said

a) Which character/class/race is best suited to do something above ?.
I am very mindful that ESO =/= WoW but I was wondering whether which chr/rac/cls combo is the nearest approx of what I am looking ?

b) I did notice that there are no hordes of mobs in ESO (max 1-2). Atleast this is what I have seen in the game so far (till like level 12). My question is there a possibility of AOE grinding (or pulling large number of mobs) in this game ?

    A) sorceror or nightblade, both have healing based on damage dealt and aoe abilities for making it work. I'd suggest sorceror since nightblade Sap tanks are taking a big nerf in 3.0

    B) there are some areas good for aoe grinding. Skyreach catacombs are popular and instanced so you dont fight others for pulls

I like being a Templar with sword and board. I stay alive quite well with my heavy armor.

I can't really be a high end healer, but for group stuff I haven't had a problem. I like being able to survive very well and offer heals as needed. Prefer a dedicated healer, but can "struggle through" just fine so far.

Be stam or mag sorc and pump your crit to 75ish or be some kind of magic templar.

The sorc has a skill called surge that heals you when you crit, it has a stamina morph and a magicka morph. Both have good ae, although the stam sorc relies on weapon skills for ae mostly.

The templar has a skill called Puncturing Strikes which is a frontal ae that has a magicka morph that heals you for a portion of the damage done, so if you can maintain spam of that skill and keep mobs within its range, you can ae pretty safely, unless cc'd of course.
